I just saw Mark May on the "Hot Seat" segment of SportsCenter. He was arguing why Brennan should not win the Heisman. Quote, "I DID vote for Colt Brennan, I voted him NUMBER TWO!!!" behind Tim Tebow. What the heck is up with that???

Apologies if this has been discussed already. I looked over Wednesday's Heisman thread and didn't see anything. I could have put this there, but hey, it's Thursday now.

Man, he's vindictive about the Nuttster calling him out.  I think May May is really a woman.

That makes about 6 guys I've seen on ESPN that didn't have DMAC #1 or #2.

Screw em. DMac will just have to settle for his two Doak Walkers and maybe a Maxwell while the Heisman winner joins Troy Smith in the AAFL.

Fire Numb Nutts!!!

PeeWee Nutt should learn to keep his big fat yap shut. That's what happens when he can't insert a thumbnail into his pie hole.

If PeeWee were half the coach he thinks he is (or should have been), Dmac would be collecting his 2nd Heisman this year.
Yeah, I told Ferret Mop, et al in 2005 that hiring Mal-a-za-wan was just smoke and mirrors from Dale to get Mustain and the others from Springdale to commit...and keep the stadium and the RF coffers full...but did they believe me? Hell no, I got banned. I told ya so.

If you contribute money to this fluster cluck, you are a sucker.

Yeah Tebow will walk away with the Heisman, and then stand on the sidelines in the NFL.

Every day I loose a little bit more respect for the media.

I am sorry to say that you guys need to get used to the fact that DMac is his own worst enemy.

If you talk to him for any length of time he comes off as not being educated even to the level of a college freshman. He may be smarter than he sounds but he is not articulate at all and is not a good representative of the academic product of the University of Arkansas.

The 'media' are probably making snide remarks about college jocks that never go to class behind his back and then voting for Tebow because he is an easier interview.

I am not saying I agree with them but there is a bias in the media to whoever can make them look better when they conduct an interview.

I would like to see DMac win but I did not think that would happen after our poor showing against real DIV 1 teams this year.

Who espn wants to win the heisman?????? I mean....why in the h#@! is it that everytime I turn on espn they have Mark May pumping sunshine up Tebow's a$#??? Where is Herbstreit??? Why don't they have him on there giving his analysis?? Every d*&^ time they talk about the heisman they have Mark May on there???????????? It makes my head want to explode that they are so one sided. I have to turn the channel. I can't even watch it!!

Yes, they talk about how he's doing things that have never been done before by a qb (td's, stats, etc). I have heard them say that many td's is unheard of. Well, Smith from Tulsa has more.

As THE media outlet for sports, they should have gave fair coverage of the hesmian race. It's like whoever they want, they spend millions in air time adversiting for them. I realize they pay people to give there opinion, but  put someone on the air for each guy that is in the race.   :puke:

Just for the record, here are D-Mac's per game rushing yards:
Troy              151
Bama             195
Kentucky        173
N. Texas         138
Chattanooga    122
Auburn             43
Ole Miss          110
Fla Intl             61
S. Carolina       321
Tennessee       117
Miss State        88
LSU                206

Total             1,725 yards

What hurt D-Mac? Auburn, Fla Intl and Miss State. Being held under 100 yards rushing as a Heisman candidate doesn't help your chances, regardless of the reason for being under 100 yards for the game. Yes, he had a super human performance against S. Carolina and just over 200 yards against the #1 Rush Defense in the country, but what people remember is being well over 100 yards every single week and unfortunately, they also remember all the weeks you were held under 100 yards. D-Mac is the best RB in America, but so much is perception and other candidates have been made to appear to be more exceptional week in and week out, all year long.

Auburn was his only subpar game.  Florida International he had 4 Tebow-like TDs and the Miss State game he had 88 yards rushing, 57 yards receiving and 1 TD, and 24 yards passing with 1 TD.  He had 1 bad game and the media blows it up so they can toot Tebow's horn some more.  It's pathetic.

This is exactly the same thing that happens each year. ESPN,Northern Press/media, west coast media choose the Heisman. D Mac was by far the best player last year. Sob story won it. Same thing will happen this year but only cause we flopped on the field.

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I think this is something to consider when considering who votes for the Heisman.  I couldnt give you the number of minorities who have won the Heisman in the past, but I believe this is a characteristic of Mcfadden that I believe that could very well help him or hurt him.  It will be interesting to see how this works out.  I know we all want to believe that the voters dont look at color and just the type of player one is, some possibly do, but I would imagine most do.  You have to consider who we're talking about when we think who's voting.  AP writers vs. past Heisman winners. Is it enough for Mcfadden to overcome? In everyone's opinion is it really even a factor?

***Conspiracy Alert***

Throughout the recent segments adverstising the Heisman, McFadden was nothing but a small blurb. Remember the one that pimped Daniel and Tebow and then said any of the other outstanding performers? McFadden was basically an after-thought.

But, during the broadcast of ESPN Sportcenter this morning, all the nominees were featured and McFadden was last and had the most air-time of the segment. (including Nutt's quote after the LSU game.)

Now, the conspiracy part. Think ESPN knows the winner and alotted more time for said winner?

Hogs-n-Roses

Face it , the change back to Dale's O cost him the trophy. His numbers are very good but the 3 games under 100 yards look horrible on that resume. Its not his fault. Leave the system alone, keep the motion/misdirection we showed late in the season(when Nutts back was to the wall), and D Mac has 500 more yards, we have 2 more wins and prolly Nutt for 5 more years. Its all good!

His stats could be higher, because I remember that he only played high the game against UTC.  I think there could have been others, but I don't remember.  If HDN had gotten head out of his rearend, DMC could have easily had 2,000+ yards.  I think most of us agree, that HDN cost DMC the Heisman.  I am still holding out hope that DMC does win...

against missy st, didn't he have a 57 yard TD reception and throw for a 24 yard TD as well?  I don't like the hangup on having to get 100+ yards.

Dcace83

Here is the rub. It was HDN's fault if DMAC doesn't win the trophy. It has been said once but i'll say it again. Up the middle 3 times in a row probably 60% of the time. I mean come on. He should be handed the trophy when you look at that alone. The fact he got even 1700 yards with EVERYONE keying on him, the most predictable offense in the country, should bring home the trophy.  He deserves the trophy. Any real hog fan knows that. But we don't have the power over that. So we say thanks DMAC for what you've given us. To be honest, i'll be most upset for UofA if he doesn't win. With the shape we are in, and the scrutiny we could really really use SOMETHING positive.

Mark May is a pompous windbag.  It's ridiculous that he's allowed to promote Tebow 24/7 on national television and help influence the outcome.  I hope the voters are intelligent enough to come up with their own decision.

Oh well.  McFadden's bank account will be nice & fat next year while Tebow's potential entry into the NFL in another year will result in him getting used to a clipboard and headset.

Heisman goes to Tebow this year.  Even though he is a sophomore and it is that reason that DMAC didn't win it last year...  The Heisman is a sham.  Get over it, its done.  Tebow wins.

1.Dixon
2.DMac
3.White
4. Tim Tebow, Florida
I struggled greatly with third place on my ballot. I respect what Tim Tebow accomplished this season. And like Dixon and White, Tebow carried his team to success. In the end, I chose Dixon and White because of the heights to which they took their teams. There is more to a quarterback than can be measured by statistics.
5.Brennan

Finally someone gets it...but i guess i should expect that from someone outside of CBS

Best quote about the heisman i have seen.  If Dmac doesnt win it (and i know im sounding like a sore loser), then I turn my back on the heisman from here on it.  It's a shame that it has truely turned into a popularity contest.

MOST of Tebows touchdowns are less than 4 yards out. if Florida had a running game or even a decent fullback/running back
Tebows numbers would be as good. He played in late 3rd quarter and 4th quarters when the games were allready settled just to pad his numbers themn D-mac was pulled by Nutt to keep D-mac safe for next game.
