McPherson on Hoops: Razorback Coaches Made Several Recruiting Stops This Past Week

Fayetteville, AR-

Drew Amman: “Back to talk hoops now. Kevin McPherson is our hoops insider from Hogville.net. Kevin has certainly been busy following where these coaches have been heading as of late in recruiting. Corey Williams relatively new assistant for the Arkansas Razorbacks was in Arizona to see Kyree Walker. Kyree is a five star and he is in Arizona for a good reason. He is not only a five star but he can play ball. What about that visit?”

Kevin McPherson: “Yeah Arkansas got the week started off at Hillcrest Prep seeing five star Kyree Walker. A combo guard that can certainly score the ball. I call him a slasher supreme. Can finish with any hand. Definitely athletic enough. What I noticed last week in Dallas was his ability to facilitate and make others around him better. Arkansas started with him. New assistant coach as you said Corey Williams was out Monday to see him. That really kind of kicked off the weeks for visits after Arkansas’ staff had three coaches including Eric Musselman on Sunday in Dallas. So a one day turnaround. Arkansas is definitely making him a priority. Then on Tuesday Arkansas coaches were out to see another five star, top 10 in the 2020 class, junior Greg Brown. 6-9 forward in the Austin area. Also on Tuesday head coach Eric Musselman and staff assistant Anthony Ruta went to West Memphis to see four star combo forward Chris Moore. We know about him. But Arkansas again on Tuesday they got out to see one of their in state priorities Chris Moore. Then on Wednesday Hays Myers who will be the special assistant to Eric Musselman at Arkansas. He started out at Fort Smith Northside in the morning. Jaylin Williams the 6-10 forward/center he went out to see him. He just recently has been upgraded to a top 100 four star by Rivals.com. Williams is a guy that has a lot of face up skills for a big man. Can get to the basket because of his ball handling skill. He can make plays for others because of his passing on the high post. So a guy that Arkansas is definitely interested in. Like I said Hayes Myers went to see him first. Then Arkansas got down to Bryant in central Arkansas. Hayes Myers again Wednesday afternoon to see Khalen “KK” Robinson a 6-1 combo guard at Bryant. Had a huge weekend last weekend at the Nike EYBL session in Atlanta. Was one of the top 10 players there according to a lot of the national analysts. He has picked up some offers. Southern Miss, Arkansas State, There are a few more mid-major division one schools. But Clemson, Virginia Tech and now Arkansas are on his radar. Houston, Oklahoma State, a couple of more for Khalen “KK” Robinson. Then on Wednesday as well Eric Musselman and Anthony Ruta were out in California were out to see Connor Vanover the freshman transfer prospect in the Pac 12. He is an Arkansas native. Played at Baptist Prep in Little Rock. He led that team to a couple of state titles. Before playing his senior season at Findlay Prep in Las Vegas. Where he was teammates with Arkansas forward Reggie Chaney. But he played his freshman season at Cal. Looking to transfer. Like I said Musselman and Ruta were out to see in California on Wednesday. He is planning to visit Vanderbilt next week the 7-8, May 7-8. Then Arkansas the 9th and 10th. So wrapping up a visit you know a couple of visits. There I think he is also considering Maryland. He is also considering going back to Cal. But that would be a big pickup. 7-3, stretch 5. His per-40 minute numbers at Cal were very good. He started 15 games. But the per-40 minute numbers. 17 points, almost 7 rebounds and almost 3 blocks per games. He really finished the season strong and helped that team that really struggled to a three game winning streak to close out the regular season. Then Thursday Arkansas was still busy on the road a couple of prospects that coach Corey Williams saw. Five star Moses Moody, the Little Rock native that plays at Montverde Academy. 6-5 shooting guard. Also had a big week last weekend with Arkansas coaches including Eric Musselman watching him in Atlanta at that Nike EYBL session. Then Williams also saw 6-10 forward/center Khadim Sy. Who just recently had Arkansas in his top five. He has visited East Carolina, Pitt. He has also visited Ole Miss recently. I am told he cancelled a weekend visit this weekend to LSU and is considering a weekend visit to Arkansas in the next few days.”

Drew Amman: “Alright 30 seconds here. I want to go back to Jaylin Williams because he is an in state guy. I understand Auburn just offered him. What more can you tell us about Williams and his process right now?”

Kevin McPherson: “Well really he has had an Arkansas offer before the new staff when Musselman came in the first week he offered him to make sure he understood he is a priority. Oklahoma State has been on him. Iowa State is looking at him as well. He is a guy like I said just moved into that top 100 4 star. First year playing up on the 17 and under level for him. I think he is going to get a lot more high major offers as he gets more exposure going through this spring and summer.”

Drew Amman: “Alright Kevin McPherson from Hogville.net. Great hoops insider for us. He has a lot of tid bits for you. Check out his hoops notebook and expand that as these guys continue to stay on these recruits who obviously are very high profile. A lot of five stars that Arkansas is recruiting at the moment under first year head coach Eric Musselman for the Razorbacks. Golf coming up after this.”
