Dave Van Horn calls Casey Opitz one of the best receivers in the country and the sophomore is encouraged by Hog Pitching as Arkansas continues a long homestand.
“I’m seeing a pretty dominant staff honestly.
Any guy you bring out there has really good stuff.
Starts with ‘Zay,’ Kostyshock,
Connor’s been really good so far. He’s only a freshman
so it’s gonna take him some getting used to what he needs to do and what he’s doing really well.
But, then you get to our bullpen and you have guys like Cronin and Ramage and Zeb, and guys that even when our starter is out, you don’t wanna face those guys,” Opitz said.
Arkansas’ ERA is 3.47 during this stretch of nine wins in ten games to start the season with Razorback hurlers collecting 106 strikeouts compared to 29 walks. Isaiah Campbell has 23 strikeouts in three starts so far including a career-high 13 against Stony Brook.
Next up, Charlotte travels to Baum-Walker Stadium (3 p.m. Wednesday First Pitch). Freshman Patrick Wicklander toes the mound for his second start. The lefty also started a midweek game last week finishing with a no-decision against Memphis in a 10-3 Arkansas win.
