Arkansas will need to add some running backs in the Class of 2020 and several of the top targets are expected to be in Fayetteville on Saturday.
Owasso (Okla.) High School’s Isaiah Jacobs, 5-10, 193, is scheduled to attend his second prospect day. He was offered by the Hogs at the one on Jan. 26. He is the younger brother of Josh Jacobs, the former Alabama running back who could be a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Some other key running backs slated to be at Arkansas on Saturday are Tulsa (Okla.) Edison’s Sevion Morrison, 5-11, 188; Houston (Texas) Sterling’s Frank Brown, 6-0, 180; Dallas (Texas) Bishop Dunne’s Jaden Hullaby, 6-2, 205; Waco (Texas) Connally’s Jay’veon Sunday, 5-10, 190; Oklahoma City Bishop McGuiness’ Dominic Richardson, 6-1, 190; Round Rock (Texas) Cedar Ridge’s Chris “Deuce” Vaughn, 5-7, 170; Tyler (Texas) John Tyler’s Kitan Crawford, 5-10, 180; Houston North Shore’s John Gentry, 5-10, 180; and Batesville (Miss.) South Panola’s Janari Dean, 6-0, 180.
It appears Arkansas could sign 2-3 running backs in the Class of 2020. Some underclassmen at running back will also be in Fayetteville including Dumas 2021 prospect Kylin James, 6-0, 200. James doesn’t hold an Arkansas offer at this time, but that could change on Saturday. He is considered one of the top prospects in Arkansas in 2021.
Inside the State
It appears at this time there will be approximately seven from inside the state at Arkansas on Saturday. In addition to James, 2020 Dumas athlete Chris Harris, 5-11, 180, is also attending.
The two combined to provide a potent offense for the Bobcats in 2018. James carried 196 times for 1,076 yards and 13 touchdowns while catching 26 passes for 406 yards and two touchdowns. Harris completed 133 of 208 passes for 1,807 yards, 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also rushed 191 times for 1,539 yards and 21 touchdowns. Harris also is hoping to receive an Arkansas offer.
Conway 2020 offensive tackle Robert Scott, 6-6, 295, is emerging as a prospect. In the past week, Missouri and Mississippi State offered him. Scott is from the same high school that produced Arkansas’ Colton Jackson.
Little Rock Parkview 2022 running back and safety James Jointer, 6-1, 185, was offered at an earlier prospect day in Fayetteville,
Arkansas will also host Hazen defensive end Blayne Toll, 6-5, 235; Jonesboro defensive end Jashaud Stewart, 6-2, 216; and Bryant outside linebacker Catrell Wallace, 6-6, 215. All are Class of 2020 and hold Arkansas offers. This will be the second prospect day for Toll this spring.
Help Wanted at Linebacker
In addition to Wallace, other linebackers will be in Fayetteville. That is a prioritized position in the Class of 2020.
Among the other linebackers expected on Saturday are Memphis (Tenn.) Whitehaven pair of Martavius French, 6-3, 230, and Bryson Eason, 6-2, 250; Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland’s Aaron Moore, 6-3, 220; and Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek’s Jeremiah Harris, 6-1, 195. All are 2020.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Arkansas try to sign 3-4 linebackers in the Class of 2020.
