Jake Ruiz Provides Feedback on Arkansas Prospect Day Visit

By Otis Kirk

Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair 2020 kicker Jake Ruiz attended Arkansas’ Prospect Day on Saturday. The talented kicker is on the radar of several schools that may need a kicker in the next class.

Ruiz, 5-11, 180, had a very good junior season. He was successful on six field goals in eight attempts with a long of 45 in a game and 64 yards in practice. He also was 29-30 on point after touchdowns. Following the visit, he talked about how it went.

“It was great,” Ruiz said. “I got to meet the coaches. It’s great facilities. I like the coaches they are really nice. I can see myself playing here. I could see myself being comfortable here…like a second home.”

Ruiz also handles kickoff duties for Cy-Fair. Last season, he had 80 kickoffs with 24 touchbacks. He averaged 53.7 yards per kickoff. He also punted 26 times for an average of 33.8 yards.

“I would say kickoff is my strongest (part of game),” Ruiz said. “I kick off the ground (for placements as required in college).”

In addition to Arkansas, Ruiz is busy with the colleges. He has several schools interested.

“Arizona, I just went to Oklahoma State, hopefully UT (Texas) and maybe Florida State,” Ruiz said.

Arkansas will hold a Specialist Camp on June 2. Ruiz said the coaches asked him to come to that and he will.

Connor Limpert will be senior in the 2019 season.
