GUADALAJARA, Mexico – University of Arkansas women’s golf team had three players in the top-10 lead by runner-up Maria Fassi as play concluded at the Mexican Amateur Championship at Guadalajara Country Club in Jalisco, Mexico, on Wednesday.
Fassi has finished as medalist or runner-up in four of the last five amateur championships in her home country. Arkansas has had 15 top-10 finishes by Razorback players in the last six Mexican Amateurs.
The senior All-American wrapped up the four-day event with a 76 in the final round. She finished with a 2-over 290, six shots back of the medalist.
Seniors Kaylee Benton and Dylan Kim also carded final round 76’s and they finished T-4thoverall. The duo shot 295 with three combined rounds of par or better on the challenging golf course. Junior Grace St-Germain finished 12th overall with a 305 followed by redshirt freshman Brooke Matthews who finished T-14th shooting 308.
Razorback signee Julia Gregg wrapped up play with her best round shooting a74 to finish 16th overall at 310. Julia Dean and Cara Gorlei round out the Arkansas scores with four-day 322’s to finish T-31st overall.
Arkansas returns to collegiate play Feb. 10-12 at the Lady Puerto Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The seven-event spring culminates at the NCAA Championship hosted by the Razorbacks at Blessings Golf Club. Check out NCAAGolf19.com for more information and volunteer opportunities.
