Pulaski Academy fell to Little Rock Christian 52-38 on Sunday in Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium.
However, wide receiver John David White had a big game despite the loss, He caught nine passes for 200 yards and four touchdowns. Tight end Hudson Henry, who is headed to Arkansas, caught eight passes for 102 yards.
Following the game, White was quick to give credit to Little Rock Christian quarterback Justice Hill who was named the MVP of the game.
“That dude’s a baller,” White said. “That dude. He’s quicker than anybody I have ever seen. He can run. He’s got the total package. He;s gonna go far in life, particularly basketball. I know he’s going up there (Arkansas) in January. He’s gonna go far in life and he’s gonna be a beast for them up there.”
Speaking of baller, you had a very good game as well.
“I mean it was hard work,” White said. “Dedication with my boys. The Lord just gave me these abilities and I just have to go out there and give him all the praise and glory. Even in the loss I praise him. All my abilities are from him so without him I wouldn’t be anything without him.”
White holds some scholarship offers including Air Force and others. Arkansas and Arkansas State have offered him a preferred walk-on spot. White talked about his plans for recruiting now that the season is finished.
“I’m probably gonna do some visits over the break,” White said. “I will probably do some visits in January too and then narrow it down right before signing day. Unless something else happens that’s what my plan is.”
Any particular visits planned?
“No sir, hopefully after the season I get some more attention,” White said. “Hopefully, whoever asks me I’m just gonna go enjoy the process. I know this only happens once. It’s kinda emotional right now. It’s kinda surreal high school football is over, but it’s on to the next stage in life and keep grinding.”
Following the game, White came back onto the field after the Bruins had exited to their locker room. He was talking to some Little Rock Christian players. What were they saying to you?
“They were congratulating me on a great season and how good a player I am,” White said. “They said just great game overall. I told them great game. Those are my boys. Even though I’m over here my brothers over here and over there. So just to be able to tell them congratulations and play them it was a fun night. They won.”
How tempting is the preferred walk-on offer from the Razorbacks?
“It is tempting, but also I have scholarship offers,” White said. “So I’d really like to enjoy a scholarship offer so that they would pay my way without me having to pay my own. But it is very intriguing because of the family relationships and who has come out of there like Drew Morgan. I feel I could be the next Drew Morgan. Just wherever I go that’s where God has me.”
For the season, White finishes with 86 receptions for 1,732 yards and 30 touchdowns. Henry had 94 catches for 1,309 yards and 14 touchdowns.
