Well, your first mistake was being in Texas; however, all is not lost. You are only 6 hours and 20 minutes away from Big Bend National Park. So, bring your backpack, tent, and plenty of water and have fun in one of america's awesome national parks.

Boys Town is not near what it was several years ago so not missing anything by not going across the border.  I used to love to go to border cities and towns and go across but if I was in America now you could not pay me to go across.  Last I heard even TJ was off limits for service guys and ladies.  Not sure if that is still the case.
