All retired players who are eligible for the Hall, who have 20,000 points, are in, except Tom Chambers and Antawn Jamison.

Joe is at 20,006 career points after a 13 point night tonight.  If he returns for another season and plays reasonably well, he may crack the Top 40 all time in NBA scoring.

Nice! Hard to believe Chambers isn't in. He should get some looks based on this dunk alone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDyBSTQDwH8.

Interesting in part for the fact that JJ has done it pretty much "flying under the radar". Typically don't hear that much about him.

He spent a decade as one of the most decorated players in the NBA;  the guy made 7 All NBA teams-- I don't see how that's flying under the radar.

I thought he meant when he said "flying under the radar" as being that Joe was never considered one of the "elite players" during his career. Not a guy you saw marketing companies throwing their cash and products at him for endorsements.

This is the dunk I show young folks who think nothing tops recent ones.

No one talks about Joe in the media or by the fans.  Heck i didnt even know he went to Utah.  Maybe because he is a quite individual.

Cool part about this story is that the game ball was given to Damian Lillard because he scored a career high 59 points in their win, but when he heard that JJ got his 20,000 point he sent the game ball to the Jazz locker room. Classy move.

Joe gets pretty decent pub, for where he is in his career.   The reason he's not on headlines isn't because he's unrecognized-- its because he's a 6th to 8th player in a rotation nowadays.   Rodney Hood isn't exactly burning up the headlines, and Joe is his back up

He needs to be talked about more often.  Per NBA on ESPN‏:

Most Game-Winning Buzzer-Beaters In The Last 10 Seasons
Joe Johnson: 8
LeBron James: 4
Andre Iguodala: 4

He's so far on the downside of his career, that he's not going to get that kind of attention.  Its just how it is-- recency is what dominates coverage.

He never truly got the recognition he deserved.  All throughout his career he got things done.

Joe wasn't a very marketable player because he was so quiet and low key.  But that's what I love about the guy.  He didn't need to dunk on people to average 20 plus points per game in a few seasons.

It's mostly because the teams he was on never did much in the playoffs.

12 playoff appearances, not even a single Conference Finals.    That's rough.

I'm not sure how much more recognition guys can get, than being on 2 All-NBA teams and a 7 time All-Star.     For a guy who is a half-tick below the best players of his generation,  its nothing short of amazing.

got the recognition at the bank.  A few years ago he was the highest paid player (for that year) or among the top 3.  Really a good career and when you listen to Steve Nash ask how he felt after they traded him for Boris Diaw.  He was not happy with the trade but knew that Joe wanted out of Phoenix for a bigger opportunity.

And that is why he isn't talked about a lot. He isn't the player that takes a team on his shoulders and gets them into a finals or even close.

If that's the reason why did Tracy McGrady get so much run

Ah, I forgot they got boatraced by the Spurs after sweeping the opener and dominating the semi.  Joe has still only played 3 games at that level, in his entire career--  he missed 2 of the 5 games in the series.

Tom Chambers is one of my all-time favorites. Dude was a beast. A very athletic 6' 10".
