Bruce Pearl plans to take full advantage of Auburn's opening football weekend.

The Tigers head coach is set to host a number of key recruits this weekend including Herb Jones, who will take his official visit to their campus. Jones will be surrounded by Auburn's current 2017 recruiting class of Austin Wiley, Davion Mitchell and Chuma Okeke.

To go with the 2017 prospects, 2018 five-star forward E.J. Montgomery and 2018 wing Trey Jamison are expected to be in town, as is 2019 guard Ashton Hagans and 2019 forward Jared Jones.

Billy Kennedy and his staff at Texas A&M will host four top 100 prospects this weekend.

To go with 2017 commit T.J. Starks, Texas A&M will also host in-state four-star guard V.J. Bailey and talented wing Savion Flagg.

Matthew Mayer, a top 50 prospect in the 2018 class, will also be on campus for an unofficial visit.

2018 guard Quentin Grimes will take an unofficial visit to Kentucky this evening, per Basketball University coach Rhossi Carron.

Impressed with Quentin Grimes' feel for the game. Plays at a good pace. Making plays off the bounce for himself & others.

IF he signs, most likely a practice player for this season and then he will test the waters and maybe go pro without ever playing for the mildcats.

Class o' '18 hasn’t quite attracted the praise of some others right around it. 2016 was touted as a generational type class, 2017 is seen as excellent, and 2019 has a ton of star power already with a very exciting future. However the class of 2018 has never been spoken about in those glowing terms.

For now it is a class with some holes to fill as we head into the key spring and summer evaluation periods, but in 2018 there is a lot to like right now about the direction it is headed.

If a few of the high upside but inconsistent prospects such as Bol Bol, Nazreon Reid, Louis King, and JaVonte Smart being [sic] to put it all together, people could be singing a different tune about this group in terms of its star potential, like we are already seeing in terms of the top to bottom depth of the class.

Overall there is still a need for players to step up in 2018, but things are much brighter than they appeared heading into the high school season.

5’10, 2018 point guard Alex Lomax has basketball programs from across the SEC —

Quote
A three-star according to 247Sports, Lomax is already a two-time winner of Tennessee’s Mr. Basketball award — he hails from Memphis — as he heads into his senior season.

At this point in time, 247’s Crystal Ball predicts Lomax to stay at home and play for Tubby Smith’s Memphis Tigers, but with the turmoil currently surrounding that program — several of the Tigers’ top players recently transferred —

"Unfortunately, I had to decomit tonight with Coach [Anderson] because of personal health issues with my father," Perry said. "I have to do what is best for me and my family."

Told Scout that he hasn't compiled a new list of college suitors.

Playing for the Arkansas Hawks, Perry had a tremendous spring, averaging 17 points and 8.4 rebounds through eight adidas Uprising games.

Arkansas now has a three-man 2018 recruiting class that consists of four-star forward Ethan Henderson and three-star prospects Isaiah Joe and Desi Sills. All three players play on the same AAU team as Perry on the AAU circuit.

Scout.com director of recruiting Evan Daniels

Quote
MARVIN BAGLEY III (6-11 PF)

No. 1 overall on Scout.com, 50% UK, 30% Duke on 247Sports Crystal Ball

“His deal is interesting because he did cut it to six (Arizona, Arizona State, Duke, Kentucky, Oregon, UCLA) in June. Usually when you cut down a list to that type of working number, it means you’re ready to get this process going and over with,” Daniels said. “But he really hasn’t made a head-first dive into the process. He hasn’t set up any officials..."

BOL BOL (7-3 C)

No. 2 overall on Scout.com, 75% UK, 12% Kansas on 247Sports Crystal Ball

“We’re not going to get a straight-up answer” from Bol about whether getting cut from Team USA hurts Kentucky’s chances...

ZION WILLIAMSON (6-6 SF)

No. 3 overall on Scout.com, 36% UK, 27% Duke on 247Sports Crystal Ball

“He’s obviously being recruited by everybody, but I think he’s open..."

CAM REDDISH (6-8 SF)

No. 4 overall on Scout.com, 92% Duke, 8% UK on 247Sports Crystal Ball

“I don’t have a feel for his recruitment. I know he’s being recruited by the who’s who and I know Kentucky really likes him and I know he really likes Kentucky...”

ROMEO LANGFORD (6-4 SG)

No. 5 overall on Scout.com, 50% Louisville, 30% Duke on 247Sports Crystal Ball

MOSES BROWN (6-11 C)

No. 6 overall on Scout.com, 50% Maryland, 40% UK on 247Sports Crystal Ball

“My understanding,” Daniels said, “is Kentucky is not involved right now.”

NAZREON REID (6-10 C)

No. 9 overall on Scout.com, 75% LSU, 12% UK on 247Sports Crystal Ball

“He doesn’t have a [UK] offer and he visited LSU recently...”

IMMANUEL QUICKLEY (6-3 PG)

No. 10 overall on Scout.com, 100% Kentucky on 247Sports Crystal Ball

“He’s got some official visits set up and I think he’s going to them and then make his college choice...”

Also Louis King (Scout No. 12) is evaluated.

5-star small forward Zion Williamson was playing in the adidas Uprising event in Spartanburg, S.C.

“Clemson and South Carolina text every day and are recruiting me hard,” Williamson said. “The Final Four run was great for South Carolina, but in the end, I’ve got to look at players at my position and coaching style.”

Williamson, a 2018 prospect from Spartanburg Day School, told reporters on Thursday that he plans to take official visits to Arizona, Kansas and UCLA.

6-foot-7 Williamson is ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in our nation.
