Here is a look at the top SEC players by position from 1992 to present.

This evaluation is based on achievements during the college career solely

Running Back - Darren McFadden, Arkansas

SEC running backs have won the Heisman Trophy since 1992 but none have finished in the Top Two twice.

Two-time Doak Walker Award winner; the Walter Camp Award; Jim Brown Trophy; Two-Time Consensus All-American; Two-Time SEC Offensive Player of the Year (ahead of a Heisman Trophy winner); and a Three-Time 1st Team All-SEC selection.  His career total of 4,590 rushing yards ranks second all-time in the SEC, behind only Herschel Walker.

There was no one better at the position than Darren McFadden. NO ONE!

Runners-up include and are limited to: Mark Ingram, Heisman winner; Derrick Henry, Heisman Winner; Shaun Alexander, Boone County Rebel was '99 SEC Player of the Year and All-American.

Center - Jonathan Luigs, Arkansas

AL.com is presenting the No. 1 player to wear each number 1 through 99 in the conference's history.

No. 1 63 is Arkansas center Jonathan Luigs.

Quote
While Jonathan Luigs played center for Arkansas, the Razorbacks became the second SEC team to have a 1,000-yard rusher for four consecutive seasons - and in two of those seasons, the Hogs had two 1,000-yard rushers

In 2006, Arkansas' 286.5 rushing yards per game were the highest for an SEC team in 21 years. The Ground Hogs helped the Razorbacks win the SEC West title outright for the only time. That season also was Luigs' first as the All-SEC center.

The next year, he repeated that honor and also received the Jacobs Blocking Trophy, which is presented annually to the SEC's best blocker, and the Rimington Trophy, which is presented annually to the nation's best center, while being named a consensus All-American.

7 Players have been the SEC's rushing leader in consecutive seasons

Quote
The players who have been the SEC's rushing leader in consecutive seasons are Ole Miss' John Dottley in 1949 and 1950, Alabama's Johnny Musso in 1970 and 1971, Kentucky's Sonny Collins in 1973 and 1974, Georgia's Herschel Walker in 1980, 1981 and 1982, Tennessee's Johnnie Jones in 1983 and 1984, LSU's Kevin Faulk in 1997 and 1998 and Arkansas' Darren McFadden in 2006 and 2007. Although LSU's Derrius Guice, Mississippi State's Nick Fitzgerald, Arkansas' Rawleigh Williams III and Vanderbilt's Ralph Webb finished with more rushing yards last season than Pettway, the Auburn ball-carrier was the SEC's rushing leader because he had the league's highest per-game average at 122.4.

Champ Bailey part of 2017 SEC football legends class

Quote
Bailey is certainly deserving. As a junior at Georgia, he took part in more than 1,000 plays. He also won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and was a consensus All-America selection in 1998.

SEC announces 2017 Football Legends class

ARKANSAS - Dan Hampton, Defensive Tackle, 1975-78
Arkansas defensive tackle Dan Hampton was a four-year letterman from 1975-78 and a three-year starter as well as a two-time All-Conference selection. Arkansas produced a 35-10-2 record during Hampton's career, including a mark of 22-8-1 in Southwest Conference play. He totaled 239 tackles in his career, with 32 behind the line of scrimmage, while recovering six fumbles. Hampton was a first-team All-American in 1978, and he helped Arkansas to a No. 3 national finish after winning the 1978 Orange Bowl. During his senior campaign in 1978, he was named the SWC Defensive Player of the Year and earned first-team All-SWC honors. Hampton also earned the SWC Player of the Year award from the Houston Post for his senior season. A first-round draft pick of the Chicago Bears, he played in the NFL for 12 seasons and became one of only two Bears' players to play in three decades for the team. Hampton finished third on the team's all-time career sacks list with 82 and earned All-Pro honors five times.
