Hey guys new to hogville, but I have been following a lot lately and figured I should get an account!
Anyways I was wondering what yall think about the hogs moving up in the polls after that road win against SMU! Huge win yesterday and can't wait to see what we are come next week!
WPS and Go Hogs! :puke:

We have two more games this week...one we should win easily the other, on Sunday, is another story. While I think we win it is a classic trap game. Iona is a good club.

If we win those two games we will likely move up to maybe 21 or 22....maybe. A lot depends on what happens around the country. I could see us moving up to as high as 18.

Arazorbackguy1

I have 10 to 12 points to make per game.

Fayettechill14

Florida will leave the polls after losing to Georgetown, so we'll move up at least 1.

I think we go 3-0 with a road win over a preseason top 25 team we might crack the top 20.

Do you happen to have any rapping skills? I think we could set you up with DJ Khaled and you could make a song entitled, "All I Do Is Bitch"

Some teams might jump in, haven't looked a ton, but if they win against Oklahoma today Butler could also jump in thanks to beating up on North Carolina.

A win over Iona won't be easy.

The final score will make it appear easy.  108-77.  :)
I would rather live as if there is a God and find out there isn't, than to live as if there isn't and find out there is.

Do mot think it is a trap game considering we play North Texas before, and then have 5 fays until our next game. Maybe if we played SMU Friday and not UNT.

The real question is why did you put the puke emoticon after go hogs?

If we close the week with strong showings, there is no reason we can't be somewhere around #20 with a sweep.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

True. I hate that so many fans think Iona is a gimme.

I just hope the players don't feel that way. After 7 years in the dark and 20 years removed from the NC, being back in the top 25 and getting a big road win could be tough to handle mentally for the kids. I think Mike will have them ready though.

After learning to handle adversity, it'll be important for them to learn how to handle success.

The thing that worries me a little bit about the Iona game is it is only 1 day in-between games.  We need to really bring it to North Texas and have them blown out by mid second half.  That way we give our starters a nice little break, so they have some fresh legs and ready to go on Sunday.

Iona is going to be a good opponent, but I will bet anyone on here we win by double digits. They will hang with us for a bit. AJ English is a beast. They killed Delaware St because they caught fire from outside. They hit something like 25 3s. I do not see that happening in BWA.

Some other games of note for Iona is their 5 point win over Cleveland State. They took a lead with 44 seconds left, then hit some free throws to ice it. They also lost by 13 to Wofford.

TNhawgfan

I understand not overlooking opponents or taking them lightly, but i have no fear of losing to iona. A team that wants to run and shoot a lot of quick shots playing at bwa...that plays right into our hands

We like playing up tempo....they like playing up tempo.  I don't assume an advantage based on tempo.  Our advantage is that we are bigger and better defensively and we will be playing at home.  It would be better for us if they struggled to play fast.

Lets win vs Iona and i think at a minimum we jump to 21.

So far, we have struggled the most with up tempo teams....Alabama State and North Texas.

secfan30

Win Sunday and with others either losing or possibly losing this weekend we could be anywhere from 18-21.

North Texas is not really an up tempo team. They just tried to do it yesterday at times. They came into the game averaging less than 70ppg, and during the game yesterday they said UNT would like to play their style by not taking a shot until late in the shot clock. They got some fast break points due to lazy transition defense by us. However, they tried to slow it down when they could.

They tried to slow Iona down, too. It was 32-32 at half, and they ended up losing 78-58.

The Hogfather

Iona would be a big win for our RPI.  I think they're not going to lose too many.

Well I beg to differ.  They pressed the ENTIRE game and got the ball across the time line in a helter skelter manner.  They never used all the shot clock and never got close.  If they didn't play up tempo yesterday I don't understand the term.

the game against unt was a good thing for us means we should be focused for iona.i,m hoping we are at least 20th.i would like to say rankings don,t mean anything, but they do (ego thing only at this time).

I didn't mean that in a negative way. I just meant it seems we have a harder time with those teams. Very little to complain about right now.

That's what worries me about Iowa State.

The biggest thing that worries me about Iona is their three balls. We have to have a hand in their faces.

Based on warren nolan's rankings, you are right.

We are currently ranked 17 in his RPI simulator.  That is a good start for not having played any marquee teams, but I'm concerned that at some point our conference schedule will start to drag it down.
