I think Williams should be starting in Harris spot. The game has slowed down for Williams and he has improved in every aspect.

PonderinHog

It could happen.  He took minutes tonight.

Arkygrocer

I don't know about starting because he brings a lot of energy off the bench but he and Watkins are definitely the most improved players this year.

Danny J

Was about to post the same thing. Harris plays well on D but makes critical errors on offense. Game still looks too fast for him.

JonClaudeVanHam

Agreed!

Best lineup, imo:

Madden
Watkins
Qualls
Williams
Portis

Have we seen that lineup?  5 minutes, maybe?

One person saw this Williams breakout coming.

First half against Delaware State. They were the lineup that actually put that team and made a run.

Bell has improved his game as well. His mid range game has been a big key for the Hogs. Bell keeps defenses honest gives Portis room to operate. Portis was a BEAST tonight!
I love off season Football!!

Harris either needs to adapt or be left behind. The team just didn't flow well with him out there.

What do you guys think about Miles?  I'm not trying to bash, but every time he gets in the game he gets lost on defense and commits fouls.  It also seems like he is really slow with his footwork, does he currently have an injury or something?

Been saying this since game one. He can be a great sixth man. A really good one! But the offense doesn't run well with him in, and to start off a game, that's not what we need.

Agreed. He does not play to his strengths on offense, nor does the staff seem interested in him doing so.

I've been disappointed. He committed three fouls in 5 minutes the other night against DSU. Tonight it was much the same plus an ill-advised shot. He is a work in prprogress. Would rather see Thompson at this point simply because his upside is so high.

Harris will be valuable on this team when he accepts his role. Made those selfish plays in the 1st half but played better in the second half.

Williams struggled down low on defense. I like Williams off the bench and if he continue to grow he will finish more games in the future.

Tony Perkis

Our starting lineup is where it should be right now. Yes, Harris needs to quit forcing, but he plays the type of defense we need out of a starter. And if Williams plays up to his potential off the bench, it brings a ton of energy to that second group that they need.

He's a redshirt senior. If he's not accepting his role, sit his butt on the bench. Tired of him tossing up garbage in the paint and shooting 18 foot fade-aways.

Hawg Red

The minutes will sort themselves out but I like him off the bench. He's a shot in the arm.

Seems to be forcing it on the offense end of the court and not comfortable in defense. Williams improvement is huge because it's going to take Miles time to find his role.

I cant' stand his game on offense, period. He's a very solid on ball defender for a big boy though.

Atlhogfan1

Williams should get some of Harris' minutes.  However, I think the energy he brings coming in off the bench is valuable especially when we are playing opponents who aren't deep like tonight.

This right here.  I don't mind him as much as others, he does have some head scratchers, but he also makes some good plays as well at times, and usually draws fouls on the other team.  And him starting doesn't really hurt anything, he's a redshirt senior and one of the leaders on the team, so you just take his bad with the good, and if he's having mostly bad that night, you keep Williams in like we did tonight.

Overall, I've felt much better about Harris this year. He's been more physical and rebounded better. Like you said, he's a "good-with-the-bad" player. He's always going to do dumb stuff, but if you can get him to dial it down enough that he's positively contributing, you need that senior leadership out there. He'll have to earn his minutes on the court once he's out there but I like him starting the game. Williams is just dynamite coming in off the bench, along with Watkins and Beard.

Williams doesn't need to be in when we're ahead and the other team is fouling IMO. His FT stroke isn't as good as say Durham or another guard would be

He plays the 4 or the 3, depending on our lineup at the time.   If we go 3 guard in the situations we use him, we're essentially surrendering the defensive glass.

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

When Portis fouled out, Mike needed him for his rebounding, defense and ability to throw over any traps SMU tried.  Williams has been a good FT shooter in his career too.

Yeah, Williams has put on some bulk and that's a quick way to lose your free throw stroke. He'll get it back.

wow, that just doesn't seem quite right....not questioning your stats my man, but maybe his misses just come at the end of the game where they are more noticeable..as for his over-all game, heck yeah, dude has picked it up more than a few notches....only thing I worry about Jacori is closing time and knocking down FT's...as for the rest of his game, he has improved greatly and it's nice to see
