I'm not counting on us being ranked, but it would be funny if we are and Missouri drops out after loosing to Tennessee.  We would enter the game ranked with a 6-5 record, while Missouri would be unranked with an 8-3 record.

It's very difficult to justify a top 25 ranking for any 6-5 team, no matter the strength of schedule and close call games against top teams, but we have a legitimate argument because we are setting precedence with back to back shutouts of ranked teams.

If the voters want to rank us, they have plenty to justify it with.

Long will have to spend some time outside the meeting room when the selection committee is talking about the Hogs on Monday and Tuesday. Yep, they WILL discuss the Hogs being in the top 25, but don't know if they are ready to put us in or not.

Normally, but do we know how the new selection committee will handle our unique situation?

If a 5 loss team has ever deserved to be ranked, it's us, this year.

It's my understanding that the old saying of "a loss is a loss" doesn't exist anymore. Now, there is such a thing as quality losses and we have had plenty this year, e.g. 1 point loss to #1 and 7 point loss to #4 (#1 at the time). I'm I wrong about this?

No, if they have played the same schedule as us and are 15 points from 9-2, they can stay in there also, no problem. It would help if they shut out back to back ranked teams though.

Turn it around.

Arkansas has a couple of losses and is #24 or #25 and wins their game that week.

Another team with 5 losses wins their game and they kick Arkansas out and put the 5 loss team in their place. The internets would melt down with Hog fans screaming "the refs screwed us again".

I understand your argument but, darn, could you imagine the publicity we would receive if "just the way it is" suddenly became "just the way it was"? We'd be the talk of the college football world!
I can't recall there ever being a 5 loss team that had only lost to teams ranked in the top 10 (at the time they played). Unique situations often create unique results. I say rank us.

I don't envy the folks who do the ranking. With five losses, its hard to put us in the top...anything.

But the way we'replayng right now, its hard to come up with 25 teams tat could beat us. Including a coupe who did.

But aTm is still better than some of the ranked teams and every voting head knows that.  As some have said the situation is unigue and the right thing to do is put us at least in the top 20-25.  We can replace Duke and nobody will question that we are indeed better than them.
