And our Gameday rail section, with quotes, a key matchup, trends, numbers and predictions for today's game- http://bit.ly/11GxWX7 .

QuoteNUMBERS TO KNOW

96.3: Rush yards per game for Dobbs this season.

0: Rush yards allowed by Missouri to opposing quarterbacks this year, on 92 carries.

2: SEC opponents against which Missouri has run for more than 300 yards in a game — Texas A&M (335) last week and Tennessee (339) last year.

728: Days since the Tigers lost a game on the road.

PREDICTION

Missouri 27, Tennessee 23: Missing A.J. Johnson will hurt Tennessee. It leaves the Volunteers with fewer defenses against a resurgent Missouri rushing attack. Missing Crowder also will hurt Tennessee. It leaves the Volunteers a man down when trying to deal with one of the best defensive lines in the SEC. Tennessee has been hot lately, but so has Missouri. The Tigers have a little more to play for than the Volunteers.

One of a small group of seniors, Jordan Williams is expecting a 'fun game' of high stakes in Tennessee's home finale. http://bit.ly/1xAXu4F

QuoteThe Vols have 13 scholarship seniors on their roster, but it will be the one that's missing that will be hard to ignore.

Linebacker A.J. Johnson, Tennessee's best defender, the program's second-leading all-time tackler and one of the team's most popular players, will miss what would have been his final home game after he and cornerback Michael Williams were suspended Monday amid a police investigation into an alleged rape of a 19-year-old woman.

Quarterback Justin Worley, who wrote an excellent letter of reflection and gratitude to Tennessee fans on the program's official website Thursday, figures to get a loud ovation, as does offensive tackle Jacob Gilliam, a local product who toiled as a walk-on for four years before earning a scholarship and returned from a torn ACL to play this season.

NO. 19 MISSOURI (8-2, 5-1 SEC) AT TENNESSEE (5-5, 2-4)
7:30 p.m. * Neyland Stadium, Knoxville, Tenn. * ESPN/106.5 FM

THE MATCHUP

It's a step up in class for Tennessee's red-hot offense against Missouri. The Tigers, 22nd in the country in total defense, boast another pair of dangerous defensive ends in Shane Ray and Markus Golden, who have ensured there was no drop-off from Michael Sam and Kony Ealy (21 combined sacks in 2013).

Ray leads the SEC in sacks (13) and shares the league lead in tackles for loss (18) with Tennessee freshman Derek Barnett. Golden has 11.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks in nine games. Missouri's veteran defense is strong at every level, but it starts with those two.

The Vols will have to find ways to help tackles Jacob Gilliam and Kyler Kerbyson, and quarterback Josh Dobbs will have to be able to escape pressure, much like he did at least five times against Kentucky last week. "Most of the stuff I do in the pocket I've practiced," he said, "but when it comes down to it, it's all about instincts, all about feeling the rush and making the play when it's there."

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

Tenner is horrible on defense. Mizzou is looking better than they really are, but Tennessee is just not a very good football team.

I think if we run right at Mizzou we'll have a ton of success. They look smallish on the inside of their DL. They may be too quick for the Hogs to exploit on the edges, but between the Tackles, Williams and Collins should find lots of daylight.

Great break for the Tigers on that roughing call.
Quote from: MaconBacon on March 22, 2018, 10:30:04 amWe had a good run in the 90's and one NC and now the whole state still laments that we are a top seed program and have kids standing in line to come to good ole Arkansas.  We're just a flash in the pan boys.

Mizzou is very quick in their front 7.  On both sides of the ball, they rely on scheme, deception and speed.

We must stay out of obvious pass plays cause their D ends are good
I'd rather be dead than be a Vol

Mauk wasn't even looking at that receiver.  Another break for Mizzou.

Missouri will be amped on Friday. They're gonna be playing for a trip to Atlanta to be grudge-raped by Alabama.

Seems like we have to play the top teams from the other division every year. This year, it is Georgia and Missouri. We'll have to play a most likely much-improved Tennessee next year.

The official did motion for offsides on first call. I watched him do it. Maybe TV didn't show he did it. But he motioned offsides, declined.

That squandered timeout is huge now. Yikes.

Pinkel on the late onside kicks: if we had a better kicking game, we probably wouldn't have been in that situation.
