2014 season Senior Bowl: SEC player invites/accepts

Huntsville's Trey Flowers, Ole Miss, Mississippi State players accept Senior Bowl invitations

MOBILE, Alabama -- Ole Miss defensive backs Senquez Golson and Cody Prewitt, along with Mississippi State defensive lineman Preston Smith and Huntsville native Trey Flowers, a defensive end from Arkansas, are among 14 players who accepted invitations this week to play in the upcoming Reese's Senior Bowl.

Another SEC player -- Kentucky outside linebacker Bud Dupree -- is also on the most recent list of players accepting invitations to play in the annual all-star game.

The Senior Bowl is set Sat., Jan. 24, 2015 at Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. CST and will be broadcast by The NFL Network.

"It's always great for our Gulf Coast football fans to see and meet the SEC players each and every year," said executive director Phil Savage. "These five players have all made substantial contributions to their college programs."

Why is Auburn's Nick Marshall not in an all-star game?

Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall has not yet received an invitation to a high-profile all-star game, including the Senior Bowl, and time is running out.

It's still possible Marshall could land in the Senior Bowl. The premier all-star game has invited six quarterbacks, but only four have agreed to appear as of Saturday. Marshall is considered an alternate, but he could get a call next week if the remaining invitations are not accepted -- or if players drop out of the game. Senior Bowl officials are not commenting on the possibility.

25 former SEC players started arriving in Mobile, Alabama on Sunday for this weekend's Senior Bowl.

Kickoff for Saturday's game is set for 3 p.m. CST. The game will be televised on The NFL Network.

Bud Dupree was one of a handful of players called out during this morning's Senior Bowl Weigh-in on ESPN. Phil Savage, Executive Director of the game, encouraged scouts to "dig a little deeper" into the guys who skipped the game, including Dupree. Apparently, Dupree and seven or eight others did not give proper notice that they will not be participating...
