Anyone hear anything on Reggie Walker? Do we still lead for him?

redeye

There was a new crystal ball prediction for him to Arkansas a couple of days ago.  I thought a recruiting expert had said we wouldn't get him before that, but I may have misunderstood him.

WaltonCollege

Yeah he has some big name offers Florida, K State, 6'2 230lb pass rush specialist eating qbs off the edge.  Really hope he's a silent commit or something

mbgrulz

Walker is the Defensive front 7 player that I want the most...Loved his film.

He just jumps out of the screen and screams at you.

I think he and Graham are key recruits for us. I don't kept up with the depth on our team as much as some others on here. But looking forward to spring practice I see five to six LB. Going to be hard to practice. Think recruits should see playing time as freshman. Hope this will be a great recruiting tool?

Yep- We will only have 5 returning scholarship LB's going through spring

Ellis and Williams- Jr's
Ramsey, Hackett, Eugene- So's

IMO we NEED to sign at least 3 LB's this class and even that won't get us to a full 3 deep.  We have Greenlaw committed.  Next most likely:
Graham, Walker, Rayshad Jackson- all will be Fr

On a positive note- all 5 of the returning players are really talented and young so the group we have next year will be together for at least 2 full years.  The guys we are on are really good prospects so we will have a chance to have an extremely deep and talented LB core in a couple years- but we gotta close in recruiting

Due to numbers or placement on the Hogs wishlist?

RD, do you feel the staff it placing as much interest on OT as hogville has?  Looks like we have a great shot with Barnett and Merrick at OG but there's only so many spots left.  How do you think it may shake out?

I'm thinkin:

3 OL
2 DB
1 LB

As long as it isn't Thursday after signing day, haha. We appreciate all the info you give us, and the effort you go to to deliver it.

And this is why RD is trusted with information.

I'm guessing that we have 1, maybe 2, spots penciled in for LB.  We've recently seen several LB recruits in FL that are being talked to at some level.  And I'm still drinking the KoolAid on Gustin, though that will probably never happen.  All this *may* put Walker down the list a bit.  He'd be a solid pick up, regardless.

Is Gustin going to take an OV here?  Can't recall.

And, for the record, THANKS RD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does the response not say it now... I would read this to mean that the relationship has cooled.. and the coaches are looking elsewhere.. when Smith's name popped up, I wondered if that was the case.

WR   Reed
OG   Barnett

LB    Walker
CB    Dinson or Redwine

I'll go with:

Reed

Merrick
Howell
Jackson
King
Redwine/Dinson

Any of those not make it and Sotolongo gets the spot.

Still considering his options on remaining officials.  His football season is ending, so I expect we'll see some movement on this front soon.  So far, he took an official to Notre Dame and an unofficial to Arizona State.  He's got an official to USC in about 2 weeks.  I've got the feeling that this guy isn't going to show his cards until January.

Agree on lot's of OL's but we need the OT, the others are too good to pass on if they want to come and we really aren't that deep on the OL when it comes to studs.. not sure we we can go 2 deep next year with our current group..

James King LB from Miami Washington....

Not disagreeing about the OL...I'm just sensitive to our back 7 needs.  Not used to seeing 4 OG's taken in 1 class.

Still wondering where the staff sees Pettway playing.

I really hope Pettway is good enough at safety that they can't move him to WR.  If we can add Reed, keeping Pettway on the defensive side would be much easier.

Those are my exact thoughts.  Given our S needs and that it appears to the outsider that we are taking but maybe 1 S with these final 7 spots, then that certainly suggests Pettway is primarily being looked at as a S.  That idea is also reinforced given the staff's supposed desire to get Reed at WR.

I know some think Greenlaw may be a S, but I'm betting LB.

IMO, the staff has become more confident in our current CB's, and with Hines, Rameriz and Floyd along with Dean, Collins and Tollivar we have a pretty good crew for 3 deep.

Safety is where the numbers are thin and I think we'll sign at least 1 more... Rameriz and Floyd could possibly play the position and would'nt doubt if Pettway doesn't start out at Safety, though I think in the long run he'll end up an OLB.

I'm thinking maybe Ramirez ends up at safety.  I'm hoping so.

There is something off with this guy.  Coach B is easy to read when it comes to a player that should be playing (that isn't).., and a recruit that keeps saying Arkansas is #1 and yet hasn't committed.  There is always a reason, when you see this situations pop up with Coach B.

You aint the only one, brotha, but if hes excellent at both, I think you have to keep him at CB. There is a reason CBs make a lot more than S in the NFL.

Per a new article from Danny West, we are, but RD seems to paint a picture of the Hogs cooling on him.

I do not think it would be 4 OGs in one class. Jackson is listed as a guard. I have heard at some point he is a possible tackle. Rogers is a center who could play guard. Ragnow could make the move to tackle. Merrick could play guard or tackle. Barnett is a true guard. IMO we need all 3 of those guys.

Jackson is an OT.  We would have 4 OG's... or natural interior linemen if you prefer...

Rodgers
Allen
Barnett
Merrick

I'm not worried. If he recruits like he did here Louisville will fire him in about 5 years.
