We could be on the verge of another Separation Saturday in the SEC's respective division races. If division leaders Mississippi State and Georgia successfully dodge upset bids from Arkansas and Florida, they will inch closer toward a meeting in December with a conference championship at stake.

The line opened up at minus-8 over Tennessee. Little early action on the Volunteers got it to 7, not a huge numerical move but dropping it to that key number of 7 does say something. At least some people who have influential money at the books like the Vols early.

Kentucky is one game away from clinching its first bowl berth since 2010 and this is the week they're going to do it. After Wednesday's practice, Bud Dupree told reporters he and his teammates are anxious to get that sixth win [over Mizzou] to relieve the pressure of chasing it. In order to do so, Dupree, a senior, will have to win his first career road game. There's a stat for ya.

Quarterback Patrick Towles is confident the Wildcats will escape Columbia with a W. He said, "We expect to win."

Bud Dupree, who has never experienced a road win in college, would like to celebrate on the plane, not usual "sad, depressing, quiet" ride.

Dupree on getting No. 6 to reach a bowl: "The whole team is anxious." Says getting it will take some pressure off.

Dupree says "fundamental" is a word the staff keeps using this week. "If your shoe strings aren't tied a fundamental way," gotta fix it. [John Wooden reference]

Dupree said it would mean more to him to win the rest of the games in his final season than to break the UK sacks record.

The scout team quarterback at Arkansas in the early 2000s was always full of questions and had a knack for acting like a coach, even when he was getting beaten down in practices by Dave Wommack's defense.

Life as a scout team quarterback was not glamorous. Like many, he was asked to do everything the defensive coordinator asked of him. At Arkansas, Lashlee's job was to simulate plays of the upcoming opponent, take a few hits and get back up on his feet...

Kudos to Georgia Coach Mark Richt for having a backbone. And, realistically, losing Gurley for a third of the season probably didn't hurt his team and maybe even helped it. The Bulldogs already beat Missouri and Arkansas sans Gurley and probably will beat Florida and Kentucky without him. He'll be back, and in perfect health, for the Nov. 15 showdown against Auburn that could propel Georgia into the SEC Championship Game.

Georgia vs. Florida, 2:30 p.m. (CBS, KRCG): It's time for the annual rivalry game known as the "World's Largest Cocktail Party." Half the fans will be raising a toast to Will Muschamp. Not sure whom the Florida fans will be toasting. Prediction: Georgia 31, Florida 10.
