Renaming of the White County Razorback Club - Honoring a former Hog

On September 27, 2014 in Searcy, AR, an event, that was long overdue, was held to honor a former Arkansas Razorback football player, Claude Smithey. Claude Smithey graduated from Searcy High School and went on to play for the Razorbacks. He sustained a head injury in a game on Oct 29, 1966 against Texas A&M and collapsed after the game. He was in a coma for 3 weeks and subsequently died before the Texas Tech game that year. In a gathering of the Smithey Family and members of the White County Razorback club before the Arkanas - Texas A&M game, the White County Razorback Club was formally renamed to the Claude Smithey White County Razorback Club. An article detailing Claude's legacy will be appearing in an upcoming issue of Searcy Living Magazine. We are proud to rename our club to honor this former Razorback! GO HOGS!
