First question I want to hear!  Coach your team looked deflated after you just drove in down the field and then they scored in four plays.  Where is the mental toughness?

Arazorbackguy1

2 plays/calls that changed this game
1. The ridiculous flagrant foul when we stopped them on 3rd down

2. The targeting foul called
I have 10 to 12 points to make per game.

Yep.  I'm done.  I'm proud of our players, but our HC is not getting it done.

I'll say it again: Perrine was 3-4 at this point in year two, and he didn't pay four top ten teams. ONE OF THOSE LOSSES WAS TO NUTT. Perspective is important.

Then don't come back until next year.  BB is not going anywhere.  We will beat Mizzou and maybe LSU.  Next year will improve some more.  UGA is a good team.  We are an ok team.  Can't afford to make mistakes against them.  The thing that bothers me the most is the mental mistakes which we had historically under Petrino and Nutt but not so much under BB.  Hope today was an aberration.

Yes those two plays really hurt, good calls, but you just can't have upper class men doing that

Yea but we passed a lot!
Quote from: mckinneyhog5 on April 07, 2019, 10:29:55 pmGuys, we have hired the BEST coach that we could have hired. Musselman is gonna rock it here like we haven't seen since the early 90's. Just sit back and watch it unfold! We WILL be a nationally recognized program again soon.

Shh.  You'l get moral victory accusations with that.

Playing football against very good teams means having no margin of error.   You make errors, and you'll get embarrassed fast.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

you can say Petrino was a horse's behind for cheating on his wife, you can say he was a horse's behind for the way he lied about the affair to his boss...you can attack his character until the cow's come home, but the man was far and away the best coach we've had since JFB's glory days

Add to that we didn't win a conference game last year and all we have played are top 10 teams so far and these fools, that BTW predicted us not to win any conference games, are mad because we can't beat top 10 teams.

Sorry but I dont think we win a game in the SEC.  At some point folks got to quit looking at the roses.  BB aint getting it done

We are right where most said we would be at this point in the season. Many had us losing to TX Tech so maybe better. Still lots of holes on this team but playing hard, getting better, not giving up. Last years team would have folded like a cheap suit after that 2nd Qtr.

Best play caller yes.  Best recruiter no.  Best coach is on the sideline now.

mckinneyhog5

5 games left and I'm confident that we can beat UAB and Missouri.  Just need one out of the two Mississippi schools and LSU for a bowl game.  Very doable!

Yep and penalties in the aTm game and in the Bama game it was losing field position battle because of special teams. It seems like we just can't get over that hump.

When you play four top ten teams in a row, that hump is more like a mountain.

We lost to a good team that we had the horses to beat.  Our mental frailty and schemes after the first drive were not getting it done.  We are better than we played.  BB should say this one was all on him.

Nothing is VERY doable with this team.

Till we can pose a deep threat this offense does not work. The WRs are open deep, flat out BA lacks either the ability or confidence to attack the deep part of the field. Not an attack, BA plays his ass off but simply lacks the ability to stretch a D vertically. Also the "cute" pitch plays do not work and need to be replaced with run of the mill screens, RB or WR, if nothing more to slow the blitz. We have pieces but until we clean up the mistakes, stretch the field, and counter overly aggressive defenses we will struggle.

As a side note, Brooks Ellis is an absolute stud and leader that we missed dearly today.

Letsroll1200

My take away is we are not as good from what I seen against bama and not as bad as we looked against the dawgs. 2nd year in the program. Give the man time!!!

Yep if Bobby Petrino was the O coordinator for coach B we would be killing it...but B wouldn't tolerate Bobby's antics or attitude...

UAROCKDOG

Almost made a game ot it after the poor first half.    Coach b must have straightened some things out at half.

Hence the need to implement screen plays and counter overly aggressive defensives. I cannot think of a single screen play all season. That cuts down on aggression and gives us a chance. Regardless there were several times today BA simply abandoned the pocket on an apparent called deep pass that was open. I cannot blame him, due to the last couple of years, but he appears gunshy. The play calling should help give him a chance, but he has to move through his progression and trust the play is there rather than simply throw the ball away. Last week there was a debate as to what qualified as an "SEC QB" and that my friend is it. RM had it, TW had with room to spare, and the current Mississippi QBs have it. It would be nice if Jim made a few, if nothing else token screen calls, to give him some relief and time. Just saying without the ability to stretch the field vertically we are in trouble on the offensive side of the ball because of safeties closing the box in a hurry.

Thing is, we will always be unranked if we can't beat a ranked team.  Georgia is from the "weak" east and missing their best rb.  Should have beat them.
