How BE is tweeting it leads me to believe he isn't playing... But I could be wrong. Showing a ton of support to fellow defensive players.

That is a lack of focus IMO

Maybe... If they were tweeting nonsense that isn't relevant to the game. Looks to me like they are focused on the game, just channeling it through social media...

But I see your point also

So you believe it doesn't take away from focus?

You would think with all the talk with discipline and how much it is loved that the discipline should expand to social media and gameday.....

Focus on the game....Back in the day if social media was around....Tommy Tice would have snapped if we was on the social media....

Social media is custom made for the situations that players find themselves in, on gameday;  it certainly doesn't reflect a lack of focus, when you have hours to kill waiting for the bus, waiting for the trainer to tape you, etc.

People just like to find things to complain about, really.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Well, they could be sitting there just listening to country music, gangsta rap, metal, whatever the hell catagory Miley Cyrus fits in, or they could be tweeting, which I know nothing about, to each their own.  Every generation has had downtime before a game and had some type of emotional release or stress reliever, so get over it.

Really? Making one tweet means they are focused on social media and not the game? Give me a break. It was 6 hours before game time...

You think these guys are just sitting in front of their lockers for 5 or 6 hours not talking to anyone just listening to music the entire time? I sure hope these guys don't come out flat because they sent a tweet.

The tweets are about winning the game. If anything, it proves they are focused on the game.

Though most players listen to music of personal preference as a part of their pre-game ritual before every game, and that has been happening for the last 40 years or more. Doesn't disturb focus. In fact, if you don't get to do it and you are in the habit of doing so, it disturbs the pre-game ritual and focus.

If they were tweeting about the girlfriend cheating on them, then you might be able to say they arnt focused. Tweeting about the game seems like they are thinking about the game. Common sense too common?

You aint to bright. Music isn't social media. Social media shouldn't be allowed on gameday. We have people on here who wet themselves because of the discipline that Bret brings to the team. Say that it is discipline in the veins of Military discipline. Applauded him for sitting Alex for a quarter for being late to a meeting, instead of making him run the bleachers....I agree with his discipline approach....But social media should be forbidden on gameday.....That should also be part of the approach.

Aint nobody said a word about music or TV.

Hell, before every game, I used to rock Run DMC's Rock Box.....over and over.

LSPRazorbac

I disagree Jimmy.

Football is a mentally taxing game.

Hours before games the players need to be relaxed.

You get foucused that last hour before the game.  Thats when you dial it in and its time to go.

If you are focused and ready 4 hours before the game....come the 3rd quarter you are going to break mentally.

b-ash

Selfies should outlawed, too.  What a stupid point of view!  The kids are getting hype about the game.  Not doing shoutouts to their girlfriends.  I'll never understand how miserable some people are to just complain about any and everything.

Not as bad as head coaches texting their blond mistresses on gameday and then nearly losing as heavy favorites because their team wasn't focused as a result of where the coach's mind was.

This is ironic on a couple different levels, and I'm not even including the use of the word 'ain't.'  First of all, know the difference between 'to', 'too', and 'two', you're a grown ass man.  Second of all, Erie is probably the all around smartest poster on this board.  If you don't believe me, look at his post history.

You're complaining that ONE tweet ABOUT THE GAME 6 hours before game time is taking away from his focus on the game?  How does that even make sense to you when you read it?

LSPRazorbac

I wonder if too much early focus and anxiety is one of our problems.

The players are aware of the losing streak.  In conference games, are we expending to much mental energy hours before a game.

Are we breaking down mentally in the 2nd half because of this?

Pulled(PP)pork

Does this include after the game?

It wasn't just one "tweet" but I understand where he is coming from. I sometimes have to check my point of view as opposed to what is the "norm" today, but I have to agree that social media in terms of tweets could be a bit distracting. Not always, but "could be" with the tendency of followers to respond and then the tendency to want to respond to them. Don't know that for a fact, but I could see the potential for distraction instead of "focus" on the mission at hand.

I wouldn't disagree that social media for game day probably needs to be limited to a time frame of up to two hours before the game to 1 hour afterward. No player who is focusing on a game needs to be chattering on twietter within two hours of the game. Get focused, hone in on the mission at hand. Let Twitter go, plenty of time for that afterwards.
