It takes more than talk to be among SEC's elite -- time for Aggies to back off bluster and dial up substance: http://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/article/A-M-falls-back-to-reality-with-back-to-back-losses-5818565.php ...

Aggies are in stretch of playing 3 straight games vs top 10 foes. Their last year in Big 12 ('11), played 2 teams in top 10 all season.

aggies are fakers and it couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch.  I can say this because a lot of distant relatives are huge aggie fans so they've given me a lot of grief
over the last couple of years

QuoteNick Saban was visibly upset, repeatedly disappointed and then simply frustrated. The only player who got a smile and a pat on the back from Alabama's demanding head coach was the punter, JK Scott...

Intriguing matchup: Georgia at Arkansas

Give the Bulldogs' defense credit. Leonard Floyd played like a beast and Georgia's much criticized secondary delivered four interceptions against Missouri. The Tigers mustered only 50 yards rushing against Mark Richt's stout front seven.

But that was nothing compared to what awaits in Fayetteville, Arkansas, this weekend (sic). Where Missouri's backs try to dance around and hope for a hole, Arkansas' run straight ahead and make a path by force.

Georgia, quite simply, hasn't seen an offensive line and a group of running backs like Arkansas' this season. Between Alex Collins, Jonathan Williams and Korliss Marshall, there isn't a back you want to see coming off the sideline. Floyd and the rest of that Bulldogs defense will be in for a real test.

Butch on Ole Miss: "There are no weaknesses on their defense. They have tremendous confidence ... and they should."

My fav Butch moment today: Him saying he'd know more about Owen Williams' status Thursday. Wednesday is last time week we get Butch pregame.

WR Malcome Kennedy said he'll be back this week (comes at a good time for Ags -- at Alabama, where he had game-winning catch 2 years ago).

SEC Week 8 predictions http://es.pn/1wbZ4ZN

QuoteWhy Arkansas wins: Call it a gut feeling, but I sense an upset. Georgia, no matter how good it looked against Missouri, isn't the same without Todd Gurley in the backfield. And Arkansas, already with tough losses to Texas A&M and Alabama, has to break through at some point. Arkansas 27, Georgia 24 -- Alex Scarborough

Panel is 4-3 Arkansas including Chris Low and Sammy, Jr.

Here's your Week 8 picks from myself & @BruceFeldmanCFB: Which highly ranked Big 12 team is going down? http://foxs.pt/1wbLJij

QuoteMandel: It all lines up perfectly for the Razorbacks to finally get over the SEC hump this week... Arkansas 20, Georgia 17

Feldman: I suspect the Dawgs are due for an emotional letdown on the second half of back-to-back road trips after shutting out Mizzou last week. The Hogs have lost back-to-back games but both were very close. I think the third time is the charm here especially for their improving D, which has held two of its last three opponents to 14 points. Arkansas 23, Georgia 17

Bo Wallace was all Vol, but UT never called

QuoteHalfway through the season, Bo Wallace ranks second in the SEC in passer rating and passing yardage. ESPN ranks him seventh on its Heisman Trophy watch list.

On Saturday, Wallace will quarterback undefeated and third-ranked Ole Miss against Tennessee.

His reputation precedes him. UT coach Butch Jones calls Wallace "a playmaker" and "very confident."

Growing up in Pulaski, Tenn., and starring at quarterback for Giles County High, Wallace was all Vol. It was an unrequited love, however. Lane Kiffin, who was UT's coach at the time, wasn't exactly smitten.

Kiffin gave Wallace a look. It was more like a blink. He dispatched offensive coordinator Jim Chaney to Pulaski. Think of it as drive-by recruiting.

"They came and watched me throw and that was it," Wallace said at SEC Media Days in July.

Suffice it to say, there was no scholarship offer from Kiffin. Wallace didn't fit the profile. He was just a two-star recruit and Kiffin was trying to pad his résumé by assembling the highest-rated class possible...

Pretty major whiff by Jim Chaney.
I doubt he would be having the same success with the cast of characters at UT the last few seasons. He seems to have cleaned up some of his dumb mistakes this year and is taking better care of the football.

What we learned in the SEC: Week 8 http://es.pn/1Fk0c1N

QuoteNo. 10 Georgia (6-1) is carrying the flag proudly for the SEC East

Alabama silenced its critics, for now: Nick Saban was a little irritated earlier this week by his fan base's outsized expectations, which had many disappointed the Crimson Tide "only" beat Arkansas 14-13 (a week after Alabama lost to Ole Miss). Well, there's nothing to criticize this week...

It's not getting better in Gainesville anytime soon...

Ole Miss' offense doesn't have to be great -- just good enough...
