Bielema needs to gt him on campus next Fall. Guy has a leg and is consistent.   :razorback:

I work with a guy from batesville who's son plays with him.  He said the coach made him a bet in practice that if he made it from 50 he didn't have to do 10x100 sprints and he said I'll take that bet.  Needless to say he didn't have to sprint.  Next day at practice same bet but from 55 and it was $!

The Boar War

He hit a 50 yard fg against Nettleton on Friday.

Dang sounds like he could pick up where Hocker left off. We need to keep our Kickers in state if we can. Hocker was an unsung hero for us, with all of the fg's he hit

I'm not around high school football enough to know if he uses a tee or not.  Supposedly that's the issue with Hedlund.

HogShat

He hit one against Fairview at War Memorial in 2012 that would have made it from 60.

Pretty sure I saw a tee on extra points and FG against Jonesboro. I watched Hedlund last year on FoxSW in the finals, his kicks went further out of the end zone than Espercueta's.

We are extremely unlikely to carry two scholarship PKs recruited in back to back classes;  if the kid is as good as advertised, he's likely to end up with a scholarship offer somewhere.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Just about every school 5A-7A have a kicker who can kick.  The real difference at the SEC level is the mental side.  Handling the pressure, having a short memory...And many times you just don't know if they can handle the mental side of kicking until they get into the situation.

Don't all HS kickers use a tee?  I don't know, but I thought I read that somewhere - LOL.

Do you happen to have any rapping skills? I think we could set you up with DJ Khaled and you could make a song entitled, "All I Do Is Bitch"

Yes, I think so, it was the adjustment Hedlund has had trouble with....

We really dont need to use another scholly on a kicker.  Hopefully the K on campus will figure things out

I think some of this is the Tee being removed at the college level.

And then tell the kid Hedlund that you are redshirting to take a hike? That would go over well in your recruiting.

He will end up with several offers. ASU among them. You can bet on that.

Not that they tell them to take a hike, but we bring in someone for every position each year to compete.

We have 25 scholarships to offer a year;  you can't tie up multiple scholarships in placekickers separated by a single year.

We have the best kicker from the state of Texas last year on our roster, right now.  He made the same FG, in the same stadium, in a game, that Henson missed.

Unemployed.

I don't think we'll bring any PK in, but if they thought someone couldn't do the job, they would.

I'd say the circumstances were a bit different when Henson missed.
And the Saints kicker missed a 41 harder in the same stadium last night.

I could have gotten closer than Henson. He almost kicked it off the screen.

Ha! Yeah, he certainly yanked it. Henson made a 56 yard FG in a scrimmage on August 22. But he sure has struggled with kicks over 40 yards in games.

Doubtful, but truthfully, if it had hit the upright and bounced away, it still wasn't good.

Just a reminder Kohl's kicking is the be all of everything when it comes to evaluating high school kickers.  They don't use a tee at those camps, and put the kids through all kinds of high pressured drills and competitions.  Cole Hedlund came out of that event as a 5 star with the following quote, "one of the best ball strikers in the last 5 years to come out of high school."
http://kohlskicking.com/profile/cole-hedlund/8402/

Osvaldo also looks very good, but he did not get the same rave reviews and they reported accuracy issues.

I have no doubt he has improved, and with that leg he has loads of potential but I think Hedlund is on a different level.

I agree. Think of FG kicking likening to Golf....................... with 11 angry dudes running right at you in the middle of your back swing with 90,000 people screaming at the top of their lungs for you to miss

Tejada was a can't miss out of high school as well.

High school kicking =/= college kicking success. Some get it, some can't handle it. let's wait and see with the kid. Leigh Tiffin handed us the last victory we have had against bama as a freshman kicker. He ended up being one of the best all time kickers at bama by the end of his career.

So if he was from Vilonia would you still love him.  ;) Seriously, if he is a great kicker, I doubt he would walk on at AR and I am afraid that would be what would have to happen. At least until he proved he was better than Hedlund. Can't see the staff using another schollie for a kicker this year. Hope the kid ends up in the NFL someday, but looks like bad timing for him to come to The Hill. Maybe our karma for stealing ASU's kicker (Hocker) is coming home to roost.
Sittin in the morning sun, I'll be sittin here when evening comes.

Did I say anywhere in my original post to put him on scholarship ? I said get him on campus next Fall. I don't think any place kicker deserves a scholarship out of high school because they use a tee. We've had our share that did not pan out recently such as Tejada and Eddie Camara.

He's got enough leg to make em from 50+ but accuracy isn't his forte. He missed the game winning FG for the state title last year against Morrilton. If the goal posts were high school regulation size and not college width, Batesville wouldn't have lost their 3rd title game in a row.
