Barnett is a huge recruit.  We have been going toe to toe with big boys and winning our fair share.  As good as our class is, he would be the gem to this point.

RD, how do you feel about Arkansas' chances with Barnett?

For whatever reason the 247 predictions are 100% to OU.

I think he committed or was going to commit at one point, but his grandfather convinced him to take his visits.  It's not an impossible task, but difficult to pull him from Oklahoma.  IMO, would be a bigger pull than us taking Collins out of Florida.

Yeah, gonna take some Pittman magic.

But it's tough to bet against him.

And I love it.  I honestly feel like there is a legit chance whenever he is involved with the recruiting.  Can't say I've ever known the joys of an ace recruiter who was also an ace coach.

I noticed a group of girls in black dresses by the recruits section Saturday night.  They were standing in the southeast corner of the stadium talking. I noticed one of the girls talking to a recruit. Any idea who they are and what they were doing?

Haha. Yes. I think we do a pretty nice job selecting the escorts. I'm thinking about trying to convince one I'm a recruit one of these weekends. We got some lookers down there. The recruits sure seem to be enjoying em (not meant in bad context). I believe Gragg has had a cute blonde both games thus far. Well played, coaches.

They are sexy as hell and wear hot little black skirts... this is the stuff you absolutely have to do in order to get top recruits..

You obviously have no idea what was said while he was here on his visit this weekend.

Based on the comments I have seen, I give Arkansas 75%+ chance of signing him. Thats my opinion, and I am not a homer when it comes to recruiting.

There are folks close to the family who disagree.

Should you be right it is "conventional wisdom" nothing special about OU. If you are wrong, it is a double-dose of sharding oneself and eating the byproduct. Welcome to HV.

You're not going against tcu, Illinois or programs like that here. I don't recall arkansas getting a guy from oklahoma that OU really went after. Didn't offer hatcher....didn't even offer Felix jones. Barnett we are after and he's from Lawton.....not Roland and somebody we offered as an after thought.
Sure you have a shot...as does everyone. Biggest recruiting advice is to never commit to the coach. They probably won't be there for your four years.

Wow... Let me clear some things up for you, hopefully in a manner that your mouth breathing boomer sooner wagon riding ass can comprehend.

Brian Wallace: Notable offers -- OKLAHOMA, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan State, UCLA, Kansas State, Georgia, Iowa, Nebraska, etc etc etc

Dan Skipper: Notable offers -- OKLAHOMA, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Michigan, Tennessee, Florida State, Missouri, Cal, etc etc etc

Denver Kirkland: Notable offers -- Miami, Florida State, USC, Ole Miss, UCLA, West Virginia, Louisville, TCU, etc etc etc

Frank Ragnow: Notable offers -- Ohio State, Florida State, Wisconsin, Miami, Missouri, Nebraska, Cal, etc etc etc

Alex Collins: Notable offers -- Miami, Wisconsin, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Texas, etc etc etc

In state school has some pull, sure. But at the end of the day if you think you have a better program than half the schools that recruited those other kids we got you are out of your damn mind. The Director of Recruiting for 247 Sports was on the radio here this past Friday before Jalins visit and said something along the lines of, "The only reason Barnett might be favoring OU at the moment is because of their recent success, but if Arkansas can continue to improve then its anyones guess." He then went on to say there is no reason Arkansas program cannot be as good, or better than OU based on our recruiting bases.

My advice to you: Go back to the flatlands and worry about beating Kansas, or whoever your monster of a conference throws your way next.

Adios

What?

WHAT?!?!?

OU offered the #1 player in the state as an afterthought?  You guys have so many great OG's that you don't need one rated as the 60th best overall player in the nation, who happens to reside in your backyard?  I don't know where Barnett will choose, but I can confidently say that Arkansas would be lucky to have him.

Furthermore, your comments just sound like sour grapes, because they're so ludicrous.  Right now Arkansas and OU have nearly identical classes, so I'm pretty certain we're recruiting against the same teams.

He meant that they want Barnett and have offered him. That to OU he is not a recruit that was offered as an afterthought. In other words, the only players that had OU offers that we signed, they didn't really want. So if we do get Barnett, they probably decided to go in a different direction and encouraged him to look elsewhere will be his stance.

Actually, he's referring to Cantrell, didn't articulate it very well, imagine that.  They can't stand to think that our coaches saw his talent and went after him before theirs, so they deny that OU even wants him.  Never mind the fact that OU coaches have made the trip to little old Roland 4 or 5 times since his commitment to try and sway him.  Lot of effort for someone you don't really want.

i was referencing cantrell.  we wanted a te out of kansas and didn't get him.  cantrell was already committed when we offered.  wallace was from missouri....no powerhouse in missouri.  skipper from colorado....again no powerhouse in colorado.  with guys like that it's an even playing field.
funny that some of you don't see a difference.  barnett's known where he's going for 7 months now.  is it fayetteville? guess we'll wait and see.

He has known where he was going for 7 months now huh?

So, he told you this personally? Apparently he has not informed your coaching staff, because they were calling him all weekend, which both he and his grandmother thought was incredibly rude. I agree. But, much like what goes on at Ohio State, nothing is too sleazy for Oklahoma.

What was your excuse for us pulling guys like Kirkland and Collins? They both had offers from the major programs in their state, and programs that have had more recent success than OU at that.

But yeah, I digress. No way Arkansas can pull a big time prospect out of a border state to come play at a school in a better conference, with better facilities, and for one of the best Oline coaches in America.

Well you obviously didn't get wind of what was said in today's issue of the ARDEMGAz by his grandmother, Charlotte Burse. She talked about her very favorable impressions and experiences from the visit last weekend. I thought one thing really stood out when she was quoted as saying "IF HE DOESN'T COME HERE, THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG". So Stoops laughs at the SEC?! Well I can't tell begin to count the number of folks around the country that laugh at the Big 12 or whatever. Oh by the way, is it true that OU really requires its players to take a course in how to commit domestic abuse? I understand Green-Beckham and Mixon have already been nominated by the gooners as Rhodes Scholars for their efforts in that area of study. Nice!!
