24-7 is My season prediction. Does that sound about right? That record would get us a at least a 7 seed in the ncaas.

I would be estatic with 24-7.

How many wins do we need to lock a ncaa bid?

24 would get us in.  Personally I think 27 is doable

I know 24 would get us in. Would 21 wins get us in? That is what My coworker thinks we will win.

I think with our schedule we've positioned ourselves well enough that 21 wins might be enough.  If we ended with 21 wins it would likely mean that we went 11-2 and 10-8.  Even with a lot of the hits that the SEC took in the off-season I still like to think that the conference as a whole will be better RPI-wise than last year.  If such is the case 21 will be enough.  I'd say 22 and we're safe.  That wasn't the case this past year where we needed 23 wins to get in a nose-dived against Bama and SC.

21 would be pushing it.  It depends on how much better the league is.  Our schedule is built to make the tournament.  I think anything over 23 wins gets us in soundly.  Anything below that and we will have work to do in the SEC tournament.

That's been my story and I am sticking with it.

I believe our guard play on offense will be better. I have hopes that MA is going to play the right combo of players. I have hopes that the guard play will also carry over to defense and we trap correctly and get more TO points. That is one thing I am going to watch very intently.

With this schedule I feel confident that 22 will be enough for a tourney invite. That said, I'm just not sold yet that we can get to 24. I think we are in the right direction, but I could see somewhere in the low 20's with this schedule. Some will say it wasn't a huge improvement, but I think with this schedule and who we play and where. That 24 would be a very very good season. We can do it, I'm just not ready to say I believe it just yet.

I was hoping that you would jump in there with an opinion. I agree brother.... I said 24 last year.... and I think we should have gotten there. Still, forget last year. It is gone. However, with the aforementioned opinion that our guard play will be better. I also think Portis and Kingsley will get an opportunity to play together. I believe Thompson will get some early PT to see how he handles playing at that level. If he passes the test, we may see Portis and Kingsley in there together. For us to have a successful season that has to happen imho. The guard play will make a marked difference in the offense. Our midrange jumper and distribution will improve. That in itself will make a difference in many games. Do you see this happening?

I know our schedule is tougher ,but hopefully everything in the entire program will be better. I have to see something this year to be a believer.

Nothing sounds right at this point. Brand new guards and a much tougher schedule will make things interesting. Fortunately, we have vital experience and talent returning.

I'd take 23 now and not play the games... that's a strong number,  we may fight to get 20+

ErieHog

23 seems like a strong number for getting in securely.   I'll be nervous if we're eeking to 21 in the conference tourney.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I'm curious to see how the guard play, plays out. I honestly feel that we may still see Madden handling the ball a lot in the half court especially when Durham isn't in the game. IF you have Madden and Bell in at the same time I think you will see Madden running the show.  Beard is a great spot up shooter and I think if he can knock some shots down and get guys flying at him then he can be effective going to the rim via hte shot fake and drive. If the comments about Harris and Bell being two standouts in the fall then things could get really interesting bc I don't see Harris being a wing guy, which means you can't have Portis and Kingsley on the floor at the same time. I do think we have at least two spot up 3 pt shooters now in Bell and Beard. If Qualls improved his shot like he did last season he might be another guy who can knock down shots from anywhere on the floor.

Can't wait to see how all this plays out.

Depends on where that 21 came from.

with this years schedule, perceived strength of the sec this year compared to last, we would probably have a better rpi with 21 this year compared to 2223 last year...

I think we'll be a better team than last year but record may reflect.

If Durham is not handling the ball I look for Beard to be doing that. I see him driving the lane and dumping it off to Portis or Kingsley. Ditto with Durham and maybe Beard. I think Babb may fit that description as well. Harris is not a 3 and his shot selection is poor many times. I am a numbers man. Durham shot 50% from the field and 44% from 3p land. That talks to me.

You just gotta stop putting the guys in there that can't shoot and give them  carte blanche. I really like Bell ,but his time is going to suffer if his shooting % from the field overall does not pick up......Durham will get those minutes.

Sounds right to me.....

I haven't seen enough of Durham to really say he's gonna be able to make that transition seemlessly. I've seen Beard and I don't see him as a blow by you type. He's a strong physical guard who can finish with contact, but more of a spot up shooter. We will see. Good thing is we will probably have more options at our 1 and 2 guard than we've had in a while.

21 would have a few years back...24 is a lock for sure. Especially with the strong schedule we have this year.

IMHO finishing with 21 regular season wins would force the Hogs to make the SEC tournament semi finals to get in the big dance. Without SEC tournament wins it's a NIT lock.

My prediction is 26-5
