Spurrier mentions Mark Richt has told his team that it hasn't played very well in Columbia. "And I like it that they talk about that."

Josh Kendall @JoshatTheState  ·  16h
Steve Spurrier: "If we kick it right down the middle to (Gurley) on the goal line, we are pretty stupid."

Seth Emerson @SethEmerson  ·  21h
Todd Gurley now the Heisman favorite, per Bovada. Votes are due soon: December 8.

Beat writer Q&A: This week we pick the considerable brain of South Carolina beat writer @JoshatTheState http://www.macon.com/2014/09/11/3300105/beat-writer-qa-breaking-down-south.html ...

QuoteJosh Kendall covered Georgia for The Telegraph and the Athens Banner-Herald for many years. He's now on his fifth season covering Steve Spurrier and the Gamecocks for The State in Columbia:

Q: It seemed South Carolina improved a bit from Week 1 to Week 2, but not a huge amount. Did you see some signs that would be encouraging for the Gamecocks' chances to beat Georgia this weekend, or does there need to be a huge Week 2 to Week 3 improvement?

Kendall: I don't know how you define how much improvement they need to make, but there certainly needs to be some, and this team likely is going to be saying that every week this season. The Gamecocks, it seems, don't have quite the team everyone thought they had in the preseason, and now they have to figure out what kind of team they do have. Among the encouraging signs last week are the defensive line played much better and actually got a lot of pressure on Shane Carden even though it didn't notch a sack, and the offense put together an 18-play, 10:33 drive to finish out the game. Now, are both those things attributable to the opponent or actual improvement? We will start finding out Saturday...

QuoteThere are so many reasons why Georgia will win this game.

That's exactly why I'm picking South Carolina to win...

Davis for SC and Wilson for UGa are both dinged up on the same play.  Wilson is still down.  Davis limped off.  Mauger is also down for UGa.

Georgia not looking as good as I thought, SC looking better than I thought. Bad news for UGA so far.

RIcht always seems to have one headscratcher every year. USCe is not Vandy, but you have to win these if you are going to play for all the marbles.
Sittin in the morning sun, I'll be sittin here when evening comes.

Polecat

Running the ball very well on UGA. Perhaps it's the post-win bliss speaking, but if we can mix in some effective passing we might be able to churn up some yardage on the Bulldogs

Said the same thing to myself, but still too gunshy to predict our game will go the same.  Still USCe is gashing them, and I still cant' help but thinking..... .  Go away thoughts, one game at a time.

Touchdown, Goergia: Quayvon Hicks from 1 yard out, and it's 38-35 with 7:10 left.

The moment of truth for Georgia's defense. Excuse the cliche', but no better way to put it.

What a bunch of rednecks. I've flipped over to this game a few times, and they did this earlier. Good grief.

SEC just took a hit with that.  SECW is so much ahead of the EAST

This sucks for the SEC.  The competitive balance is off.  Now we have Mizzou with a chance again to make the SEC CG due to a soft schedule.  Not good.  As a conference, we should have pulled for UGa.

Your referring to Hutson Mason? The senior that was a backup to Murray?

Atlhogfan1

Unfortunate outcome for the SEC.  Now we need the West to dominate this season.

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

Twenty-three year old college QB's can be considered young in some regards.
