Marvin Barnes dead at 62.  His Providence team was one of the best I ever saw in person.  Great passing guard in Degregorio, very good offensive and defensive big guard in kevin Stacom and of course Barnes dominating inside scoring and blocking shots and ran the court so well he was at the end of some of Ernies behind the back passes.  In the national semi finals they were ahead of Memphis when Marvin hurt his knee and could not play and their year was over.   Bob Costas in the book Loose balls says that when he was ok (off drugs) he was one of the very best.  Drugs ruined his career and David Thompsons are they were 2 of the most athletic forwards I ever saw.

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.
