Vs tosu, is the type of defense I would like to see the hogs play.  I hope that is what Robb smith is building.

Kevin, I saw that same game too. VT defense brought their "A" game.  Hoping our D continues to improve to give us a chance. Contrary to the doubters, we are in good hands with BB and staff. WPS

I was loving every minute of that game! VT is aggressive, strong and fast! They just mauled OSU, and it was a beautiful thing to see-- and envision for our own future!!

Wonder if it would have been different if Ohio state had their #1 QB playing instead of the back up who is a freshman.

Really?  A heisman contender out for season a week before the season starts and now it's a freshman playing.  Yeah.  Ok.
If a man speaks and no woman is around to hear him, is he still wrong?

I think the Big 10 is overrated almost yearly, but that game would have been a lot different if they had their #1 QB playing.

It's always nice to have Michigan and Ohio State eliminated from title talk in September.

No matter how bad the Big 10 is, they'll have a representative in the final four.  Bet on it.

Ohio State and Wisconsin won't be moving up to the top 4 with wins over Maryland, Rutgers, Illinois, Purdue, Michigan, Northwestern, Indiana, and Minnesota.

Michigan State is their only hope but they won't be there.

Wisconsin may finish the year winning their next 10 (or 11).  If they do, they'll be there.

Absolutely loved watching that game last night! VT's defense was stellar yet simple, send more than they can block and disrupt the pass before it can develop. Shut down corners are a MUST to run that type of defense.

Ohio state didn't.   He is out for the year.  This is the back up QB playing.

Not sure what you're talking about. Urban Meyer played their 4* starter who picked OSU over LSU. Same guy who started and won the week before. They played their starter. They lost.

Yeah. You keep believing that.  You know who I am talking about.  Braxton Miller is the person that was going to be starting this season.  Not the back up QB that is playing now.

Miller likely wouldn't have been much better off- that offensive line was crushed all night long.   There are certainly games where he would make a tremendous difference for OSU, but last night might not have been one-- he's never been a great performer throwing the ball, when pressured.    All things considered,   JT Barrett played reasonably well.

Freshman QB vs a senior QB that was a heisman trophy contender going into this year.  You really think it wouldn't have made much difference?   Come on Erie you know you don't believe that.

The line play was so bad, that yeah, I do believe that.   Were Braxton a guy that you worried about beating you throwing the ball with a well-timed quick release and effective blitz reads, yes--  but his play style wouldn't have been that big of a help, especially given the accuracy issues he showed throwing on the move last year against Clemson,  the year before against Purdue, etc.

When you can't protect the quarterback,  you can change out parts without doing a lot of good.

two of the runs Barrett broke loose on for 20 yards would gave been touchdowns by miller. Don't doubt it, it happened time and time again the last couple years. VT D was brutal.

Barrett is quite a bit slower than Miller end he still broke a few big runs. Two if those miller would have taken to the endzone.

And he would have made more poor decisions with the football, negating any advantage in footspeed.

I still don't see OSU winning that game, even with Braxton in place.

Miller wasn't a great passer either. He might have run on Va Tech's defense a little better, but I don't think he would do any better than Barrett did through the air.

your side is a lot easier to argue than mine. I think it would have mattered but alas I have no way to prove it. Just shattered hopes on the bottom of a pile of VA Tech blitzers.

HOW'S THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY LIKING THAT CHRIS ASH?

We get a bunk coordinator from them, we return the favor in kind  ;D

Ash wasn't their problem last night. Their o-line was. Not sure how many sacks VT had, but it was a lot. Especially in the 4th quarter.

you're probably right. I only caught the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. Nonetheless, they go 24-2 under Urban pre-Ash, and now they're suddenly 1-1 this year while struggling against what are supposed to be two highly inferior teams. I choose to believe it's no coincidence. Let me believe.

Where Braxton would have been better is in recognizing the blitzes and how to react to them from experience. That freshman QB was confused. That being said, I'd love to see that kind of D built here.
