South Dakota State's 2013 season ended in the second round of the FCS playoffs with a 41-17 loss to eventual semifinalist Eastern Washington. The Eagles held All-World Everything running back Zach Zenner to 71 yards on 21 carries and ran for 287 yards of their own. The game was tied, 14-14, at the half, but Eastern Washington scored on three of their first four drives out of halftime, gaining 12.4 yards a play in the process.

The visiting FCS Jackrabbits made a game of it, pulling within a score at the beginning of the third quarter, but No. 24 Missouri scored the final 17 points of a 38-18 win in the season opener at Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

The Tigers (1-0) put up 393 yards of offense, with 215 coming on the ground. Russell Hansbrough ran for a career-high 126 yards on a career-high 20 carries, scoring once, and Marcus Murphy ran nine times for 54 yards.

After putting up 217 yards on 23 plays in the first quarter, Missouri managed 176 on 37 the rest of the game.

The defense picked up the offense, though, forcing three turnovers. A Duron Singleton interception led to a first-half touchdown, an Aarion Penton pick saved another, and Ian Simon stripped receiver Jason Schneider, with Braylon Webb recovering, to end the Jackrabbits' final scoring threat.

South Dakota State ended with 365 yards. Zenner ran for 103 on 17 carries, but got only 28 on 16 carries after busting out for a 75-yard touchdown run on the first play of the game.

Backup quarterback Zach Lujan -- who replaced starter Austin Sumner after he went out in the first half with a leg injury -- finished 21 of 28 for 239 yards and an interception.

Markus Golden led the Missouri defense with career highs in tackles (10) and tackles for loss (3.0) and also tied a career high in sacks (1.5)...

That's ok. A win is all that matters. We had some head-scratching non-con games last year too, on our way to a 12-2 record and SEC East title. Not sweating it.
