Huge get today with KJ jumping on board. I think Gragg eventually follows.  If so, that will make 13 commits. 9 on O, 3 on D, and a specialist.

All 3 D commits are on the DL.   Still 0 LB and 0 DB, both of which are our biggest area of need.

Who else on Offense is still a possibility?

Gragg
Pettway
1 of those RB
1 more OL

That should do it for O right?

LRHawg

Yep, Need some DB's and LB's. We are off so an awesome start on this class.

Need four DB's and four LB's. probably another DE and DT. One OL. Stud RB.

Sounds about right

With Shannon and Jennings recruiting Florida and Texas. We will get some LB and DB. Both will do a great job. With Jennings on staff, I already see more DB looking at Arkansas. Then I can remember in a long time.

Speedracer

Hopefully LB's and CB's can see what we are building on offense and that would attract them to look at Arkansas

Shannon isn't known as an ace so if he's the lead it'll probably be low-mid 3 stars or diamond in the rough types.

Can anyone list some of the defensive guys we have a shot at?
"I've never been a numbers guy," Mallett said. "If you play the game for yourself, don't play. I don't want you on the team. There's one goal we've got here. If you're not trying to reach that goal, don't come to Arkansas."

I think 1 more on OL assuming we get the kid who couldn't get into NC.  If not, then I'm thinking 2 more OL.  After that, luck into Ledbetter at DE, then all back 7 players...Walker, Graham, Williams, Dinson, Johnson, Sotolongo, etc...

I know people on here often dislike my opinions but I'll always be realistic and tell if like it is. Having said that, I LOVE the start of this recruiting class, especially offensively.  I hear people say we can't play the Bama/LSU game because we can't recruit like Bama and LSU. While I agree with that overall, we are absolutely recruiting with them on offense.

Our QBs have elite offers
Our OL have elite offers
Our TEs have elite offers
RB will never be a problem
We need help at WR but are slowly getting better.

I truly believe our offense will be very, very good in the next couple of years and I don't throw around homerist opinions.

The defense however?  Meh,   Let's wait and see.

I do love the start this year and think we are slowly building a great foundation.

Defensive recruiting got a little better last year. We have three good ones committed so far. Need to have a high hit rate in the back 7. From the sound of things, we're probably going to hit on Anthony Brown, Ramsey, Hackett, Eugene, Liddell, Floyd, Ramirez, and Toliver. Will have to see ab Watts and Hall in a couple years. 8 solid contributors on D in every class and we will be in better shape than we've ever been.

We'll know in a few weeks if they are solid contributors, maybe even as early as Saturday. If we keep bringing in talent that is ready to play, we can only get better.

I am a Hog fan. I was long before my name was etched, twice, on the sidewalks on the Hill. I will be long after Sam Pittman and Eric Mussleman are coaches, and Hunter Yuracheck is AD. Only one problems with this.. States with the talent level such as Florida only have a small percentage of kids allowed to be 5*, 4* etc...and there is a lot of elite talent in FL on D!  Keep this in mine, they may not be rated as a 5* but move that kid to AR and they might very well be at least a 4*...

Anywho...

Probably about right, but I'd reduce the DL to 1 and add 1 to LB.  And if we get Josh Allen, then I'd reduce the OL to 1 and add 1 back to the best defensive player we can get...especially to the back 7.

Also, don't forget about CB DeShawn Raymond. Legit CB from Texas who RD has been hyping up a lot here lately.

I like our odds with LB Jordon Williams, LB Reggie Walker, and S Kylan Johnson too.

Define fantastic. Because the recruiting went down when he took over at the U. Talk to fans of opposing schools. He's not known as an ace and that's just a fact. He will bring in the Floyd's and Ramsey's and that's okay. But we're not going to sign a lot of guys the big three really want. And we're not going to go OOS and sign 4 star LB's or higher.

The thing about linebackers is the guys who really can play don't always have the most stars.  There are many other factors to consider.

My ego loves me some 5* but the coaches are doing a more comprehensive thing in the long run for the good of the program.

I'm not worried about stars with the staff. I am worried about who we want and offer. I just have a feeling that we are having to dig deeper and offer linebackers. It doesn't feel like we're getting very many of our top choices. I may be wrong...

I have trouble understanding this line of thinking. So a player that is a hidden stud isnt noticed by any other of the top 50 teams but we see the sparkle in his eye and can build these lessor athletes into awesome talent. How did the rest of the country not notice them. Basically saying we will coach up kids means this is all we can get and we hope they improve. We need a stud qb and a better than average D to be competitive.

BrokenArrowHogs

The coaches picked up some help in the secondary last year, and hopefully can add a few more potential difference makers this year at the CB and S spots.  BUT, we still are way too thin at LB talent-wise.  I think they have grabbed a few the past two years, but we really need several good LB classes to get the talent where it needs to be.  I know they are very aware and working hard to address.

I have been surprised more LB prospects haven't run as fast as they could to play for Randy Shannon.  Maybe it is just me, but I would have thought more top LB prospects would have jumped at that chance given his track record and history.
