Saturday where would the win Rank for our program? IMO it would be HUGE maybe the biggest in the last 10 years!

Pickwick Hog

It will be huge initially, but not so much after Auburn gets thumped 2 or 3 more times afterwards.

Bigger than beating LSU at home the year they won the NC?

I think it would be huge for recruiting to win this game. It would be huge for fan morale too.

That win did zip for the program as we were already 7-4 and hopeful of so much more that year.

This win could be a catalyst to a re-birth. Much bigger in my opinion.

It would just be one win over a top 10 team;  it wouldn't even be our biggest road win against Auburn in the last decade; we crushed #2 Auburn at Auburn, in 2006.

Coach B just needs that signature SEC win. Will it come week 1 on the road at Auburn? Maybe, maybe not. But he will get that signature win this year

I still think it would be more important for the program. It would be a hell of a way to kick off a season in which few outside of the state expect us to even go .500 or even win a conference game. Particularly on the heals of the last 2 1/2 years.

It would be big for this season.  A win at Auburn would be a very encouraging start to the season.  Historically though, I don't think it's that signifcant.

Correction note-- on the year, it was 2006, and Auburn was #2 and undefeated.

No.   We went into the game flat after gutting out a 1 point win over Bama the week prior, but that was a much, much bigger win than winning this Saturday would be.

a big win early in the season is only as good as what you do with it.

Beating Texas in 03 was great but we followed that up with a disappointing season and fell out of the polls.

Can't believe the obvious is being ignored or avoided.  A win would at least lessen the use of Malzhan to criticize our coach and rip at our program.
Quote from: MaconBacon on March 22, 2018, 10:30:04 amWe had a good run in the 90's and one NC and now the whole state still laments that we are a top seed program and have kids standing in line to come to good ole Arkansas.  We're just a flash in the pan boys.

Hoggie17

If we were to beat Auburn, I doubt we would make the top 25.  The talking heads would be saying Auburn is way down this year, they would drop to maybe 23, 24 or 25.

That being said, I think we have a chance of beating them, we really do have 3 excellent running backs and improvement has be made in our D, plus some of their key players may miss the game.

If we followed it up with a win @ Texas Tech then we'd starting getting some votes.

I think it'd be as big as the last time we defeated a Saban coached Bama team.  Oh wait...

Großer Kriegschwein

Don't put anything past this team if it's close in the 4th Quarter. If they smell blood I wouldn't expect a repeat of the LSU game.
This is my non-signature signature.

Jamie Jones

I don't know how big of a deal it will be when we look back in a couple of years, but Saturday night, during the LSU/ Wisconsin game, it will be talked about as a major upset by the television analysists. And THAT will be nearly as big as the win itself. By the end if the season, I believe that most of the talking heads will be on the CBB  bandwagon and Auburn will be just a middle of the pack SEC team.
I'm a Hog fan. I never chant S-E-C! I hate all the other members.

Bacon_Bitz

We'll see how big Coach B thinks it is based on the points in the coaches poll the next week.  He'll from us up from 25 to about 15, I would guess.

Tripod1

It will be a big win without a doubt but it only helps if it is the start of us gaining confidence and we go out week after week and continue to improve and get more W's.  If we fall flat on our faces in the following weeks it we be all for naught.

It would be a big win but too early in the season to rank it that high.

It is hard to rank any victory over a win against the #1 ranked team in the nation, and at their house for a little extra gravy.

RazorD

Biggest win last 10 years would have to be against LSU in 2010 to make the Sugar bowl, right?

OLDHOG

Any time we beat Auburn and Malzhan it's big for me. Don't care for either one.

It would be like when Houston Nutt lead us to victory over SMU after Danny Ford kept losing to them. We would be elated and yet ashamed that we are that thrilled over beating auburn

You have to crawl before you walk! We are along ways off from beating national runners up! We will be very fortunate to win one, maybe two conference games this year!

Phil D

It will be a huge confidence boost that's for sure, but have to wait till after the season and look at Auburns record before anointing it biggest win in a decade.

Honestly if we beat Allbarn, it would give us huge momentum and we will have a serious shot at starting out 5-0. We would then crush Nicholls State. Now 2-0 we would have huge confidence going into TT.  Enough I think to win that game and then beat N.Illinois big. Now 4-0 I think we beat aTm in Jerry's world. 5-0!

Then Bama week! I think we lose that like 38-20.
Barely lose to UG at LR.

But that 5-0 start would give us enough confidence and momentum that I think we would win 8 games.

Thats pretty much my feeling, it would be HUGE right now... maybe not so much in a few years. But regardless it would make our path to a bowl game much easier. If we start out 5-0 then all we have to do is beat UAB on the 25th of October and we at least get a trip to the Liberty bowl I would figure. And could even do better with a few more wins. It really sets the tone for the year. If we lose, I think we still go bowling but its going to be a struggle to get there!

razorbackfanatic

Yep if we lose, the TT game might be the pivotal game on a bowl or not.

On the road, 21 point underdog, playing a team that was in last years NC, it would have to be a top 5 win.

OrvilleRedenporker

RazorD is right.  Beating LSU with Knile Davis rushing for over 100 yds against them in the fourth quarter to put us in a BCS bowl will be the biggest win we have for a long time, at least until we get into another BCS bowl :)

OrvilleRedenporker

I'd rank this win up there with our last second win on the road at Georgia when Greg Childs made the big TD catch (also in 2010).

Biggus Piggus

Winning at LSU in 2007 was great for one day. It did not affect the BCS. It did not help Arkansas. Only gave Nutt an easier start at Ole Miss.

How big a win would be Saturday depends on the rest of the season.

No doubt. Winner went to a BCS bowl. LSU had the #1 defense in the league. I'll never forget how Knile made them quit on that last drive. He carried it like 10 times in a row.

I guess Miracle on Markham would be second. Anytime you when a do or die game to go to Atlanta it has to be up there. Even though we did get smashed in the SEC championship game.
