Just wanted to get everyone's thought, does anyone else think that after the new Basketball Practice Facility is complete it will bring the demise of Barnhill Arena? While I love Barnhill and the nostalgia that it has, I also see it as prime real estate around DWRRS that the athletic department could use.

When the practice facility is complete, that would leave its only primary use for volleyball and with the basketball teams being able to practice at the new place it would allow volleyball time at Bud Walton.

Thoughts?

Budgets being what they are, they may plan to phase it out, but it isn't going anywhere short term.  It is still heavily used, and houses multiple teams.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

This is what they plan on building on top of Barnhill. A new, efficient facility with proper locker room and storage space for our Women's Volleyball and Gymnastics programs. As well as having a much cleaner, upgraded space to hold concerts and graduations, as well as other special events.

Have they started raising money specifically for it, or can we look forward to it being part of our next foundation fundraising mailers?

I doubt it is even in their minds right now. Probably 5+ years away.

I would imagine it's behind the North End zone project, which is years away.

I would agree. After the end zone expansion is done I think we will see money starting to be raised for this and hopefully the Baum expansion.

Do you happen to have any rapping skills? I think we could set you up with DJ Khaled and you could make a song entitled, "All I Do Is Bitch"
