COLLEGE STATION – Following a quiet past month, Texas AM's rash of offseason arrests has spread to Rosenberg. Freshman defensive back Victor Davis, a former Rosenberg Terry standout, apparently was arrested in his hometown for shoplifting, according to the Rosenberg Police Department (@RosenbergPolice on Twitter).

The arrest was first reported by the website Good Bull Hunting. According to Rosenberg police, Davis was arrested "within the last two weeks" at a Kohl's Department Store. His mugshot is posted on the Rosenberg Police Twitter page as a "Most Unwanted" along with five other apparent ne'er-do-wells.

QuoteA&M spokesman Alan Cannon said Saturday night he was unaware of the arrest and was checking into details. Davis, a four-star recruit by ESPN.com, chose the Aggies last year over Alabama and Oklahoma State. He redshirted this past season and is listed as the No. 2 cornerback behind Deshazor Everett on the A&M depth chart...

The offseason transgressions of the A&M program under third-year coach Kevin Sumlin are multiple. Starting defensive tackle Isaiah Golden and starting linebacker Darian Claiborne were dismissed from the program in June following their arrests on charges of armed robbery. Starting senior defensive lineman Gavin Stansbury was arrested this spring on charges of assault on the Rice campus. He's fighting the charges.

Two of Stansbury's teammates, safety Howard Matthews and receiver Edward Pope, were in a vehicle with him when they were pulled over by College Station police, and Matthews and Pope each were arrested at the same time as Stansbury in connection with a prior failure to appear in court.

Receiver Ricky Seals-Jones was arrested this offseason on charges of disorderly conduct, but he also is fighting the charges. Quarterback Kenny Hill, who is vying for the starting job, was arrested on charges of public intoxication. Touted safety Kameron Miles was dismissed from the program in early March for what was reported as theft.
