Buck sweep -- A staple Wing-T play in which the linemen, tight end/H-back and receivers block down, both guards pull, and the halfback turns it upfield as soon as he has a lane.

Zone read -- Auburn's signature play last season, in which the quarterback has the option to either hand off or keep it by reading the play-side defensive end. If the end crashes on the running back, the quarterback keeps it and takes it around the edge. If the end stays outside -- or other defenders -- the quarterback gives it to the running back on a simple inside zone.

Boundary -- When the offense lines up on one of the outside hash marks, the boundary is the short side of the field. More throws go to the short side of the field, because it's an easier throw, with less distance for the ball to be in the air.

Nicholls State (at Air Force): L, 16 - 44
* We should decimate Nicholls State easily.

at Texas Tech (vs. UCA): W, 42 - 35
* BARELY beat an FCS program that went 7-5 (5-3) last year. We should easily handle this game.

Northern Illinois (vs. Presbyterian): W, 55 - 3
* This will be a good warmup game for the Hogs. We should win this one, but had better not be caught sleeping. NIU is on a 4 year streak of 11+ wins right now.

vs. Texas AM (at South Carolina): W, 52 - 28
* Completely decimated our former permanent SEC-E opponent. TAMU's defense is still suspect. Wasn't challenged enough by a very poor offensive showing by USC-e. Our D should be gelled considerably more by this game.

Alabama (vs. West Virginia at Georgia Dome): W, 33 - 23
* WVU exposed some weaknesses on Bama's Special Teams and defenses. Saban adjusted accordingly for 2nd half. Despite a poor year last year, this year's WVU looks far more robust and confident. We need to strike quick and hard.

Georgia (vs. Clemson): W, 45 - 21
* Clemson clemsoned themselves again. This game shouldn't have been a blowout. We'll see if all the off-season issues at UGA impact them as they work through their season.

UAB (vs. Troy): W, 48 - 10
* Troy was expected to be a better team than what was shown last night. I still think we handily beat UAB though they may give us a scare or two.

at Mississippi State (vs. Southern Mississippi): W, 49 - 0
* MSU beat USM like USM was an FCS program last night. Only one of two shutout games by P5 schools (6 shutouts last night). Very good D on MSU. Starkville is always a tough place to play due to crowd noise.

LSU (vs. Wisconsin at Jerrah's World): W, 28 - 24
* LSU almost LSU'd themselves. Only in the 4th quarter did they play like the LSU we've all come to expect. Les is going to do Les things. Since this is at home and we played them so close last year, I expect us to finally get a win against the Bleaux Creaux.

Ole Miss (vs. Boise State at Georgia Dome): W, 35 - 13
* Several times, Ole Miss tried to give Boise the game. They are extremely beatable this year. ::yawn:: Next?

at Missouri (vs. South Dakota State): W, 38 - 18
* It's a win against an FCS opponent who is 2-5 (since 2010) against FBS teams. This shouldn't have even been close.

How They Happened (big-play analysis)

Love's 45-yard end-around: UW WR Reggie Love scores on an end-around on Wisconsin's first drive of the game.

    The Badgers have two tight ends left and two receivers right. Love, starting on the right, goes in motion left, running behind the O-line and taking the handoff from QB Tanner McEvoy.

    It appears that at least one (and maybe two) LSU linebackers goof on this play...

UAB's currently practices seven quarterbacks, a group comprised of starter JUCO transfer Cody Clements and backup redshirt freshman Jeremiah Briscoe as well as Myles McKee, Austin Chipoletti, Stevie Farmer, Evan Orth and Alabama State transfer Arsenio Favor.

"That helps your defense," Clark said of keeping so many quarterbacks among the fold. It creates depth and as we see that quarterback position, you can go from No. 1 to No. 3 real quick. I think down the road we're going to be even better with that."

Somebody has got to win the East, and that team will go to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game on Dec. 7. Here's a look at what kind of shape all seven teams are in nearing the midpoint of the season.

MISSOURI
Even if they (sic) lead holds up for a month, a season-ending stretch of at Texas A&M, at Tennessee and versus Arkansas probably will do in the Tigers.

GEORGIA
"It allows us to have some control, where before we had to hope South Carolina would lose another game," Georgia coach Mark Richt said. "If we win the rest of our SEC games, we win the East. But that's true of Missouri and Florida, too." Georgia only plays two more SEC games in Sanford Stadium and must travel to Missouri, Arkansas and Kentucky.

This was the third straight ranked opponent that Alabama's failed to beat. It started with No. 4 Auburn in the 2013 Iron Bowl, continued with No. 6 Oklahoma in the 2014 Sugar Bowl and extended to No. 11 Ole Miss in the Katy Perry Bowl.

    In each of those games, Alabama was ranked in the top 10. The Crimson Tide was No. 1 in both major polls when it lost to Auburn and No. 1 in the coaches' poll Saturday.

    Alabama is now 4-3 in its last seven games, the program's worst stretch since it also went 4-3 in the final seven regular-season games of 2010.

LSU's season in review:

Vs #14 Wisconsin

LSU opened the season ranked 13th and took on another top 25 team in Wisconsin. LSU fell behind early in the game as the Badgers dominated them on the ground to lead 24-7. From that point LSU got it's act together and scored  21 unanswered to win the game 28-24. Quarterback Anthony Jennings didn't look too sharp as he finished 9/21 for 239 yards and two TDs, most of the yards came in the second half. Wisconsin is currently unranked following a 20-14 loss to Northwestern in week 5.

Week 7: @ Florida

Anthony Jennings was once again the starter last night as the Tigers went to Gainesville in desperate need of a win. The quarterback battle didn't matter too much as the Tigers finally decided to hand the ball off to high touted freshman running back Leonard Fournette. Fournette carried the ball 27 times for 140 yards and two touchdowns. The game was a back and forth contest reminiscent of two rats fighting over the final piece of trash necessary for survival. Florida had every chance to put the game away but failed to capitalize time and again. The game looked to be heading to overtime when Jeff Driskel remembered he was Jeff Driskel and threw an interception in the final minute. LSU kicked a field goal to win the game 30-27.

LSU will be relying heavily on the run. LSU is 33rd in the nation with 209 yards per game on the ground...

Let's not go overboard.

Let's not even try to make the argument Georgia is better today than it was a week ago.

Let's not pretend you can have a Heisman Trophy contender ripped off a team and have that met with sustained improvement...

Georgia can survive without Gurley. The Missouri game showed us as much. But without No. 3, the Bulldogs just aren't the same.

We'll find out against Arkansas whether the difference is enough to cost them.

The phrase "attrition" has been thrown around a lot in recent weeks regarding the Georgia secondary due to several injuries and a number of suspensions and dismissals. And while well documented, it's worth mentioning the Bulldogs have lost seven defensive backs to either injury or discipline since Pruitt's arrival.

"We've been put in those situations a lot with guys going down, guys being dismissed, guys being suspended, guys being hurt," Swann said. "It's just the chain of things that have happened to us in the last few weeks."

But the attrition isn't the only contributing factor to Georgia's revolving defensive backfield.

A few weeks ago, inside linebackers coach Mike Ekeler said he calls Pruitt "The Blitz Doctor" because of the defensive coordinator's ingenuity dialing up blitz schemes. But it appears he can double as a coverage doctor, as well. He has had two defensive backs -- Damian Swann (corner and star) and Aaron Davis (corner and safety) -- who have both started at two positions and not started a game so far this season...

Offensive coordinator Neal Brown never thought his wideouts adjusted well to the size of LSU's secondary.

The wide receivers coach agreed.

It was all over the game tape.

"When you play against great competition, sometimes all the things you're not great at really highlight and show out," Mainord said. "And because those guys that are big and athletic and strong like that, they can find your faults fast and that's what happened some."

Kentucky Coach Mark Stoops hopes that when that group met on Monday it came up with more effective ways to get open against press coverage.

"That's a physical bunch that doesn't give you a lot of space," he said of LSU. "You have to beat 'em, you have to make plays. We can compete at a higher level. We need to be more detailed on some of our routes, and there is a lot of things we can all do better."

On paper, Kentucky's wide receivers will have a chance to redeem themselves this weekend against Mississippi State, which is the nation's fifth-worst passing defense, allowing 308.3 yards a game.

1. UAB wide receiver Maudrecus Humphrey

The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder will return to the school he signed with as a three-star recruit out of Hoover High back in 2010 before being indefinitely suspended from the team following an arrest for burglary and theft back in 2012. 

He's finally back on the field full time and has contributed this season with 18 catches for 247 yards. If fellow senior wideout J.J. Nelson can't go after being banged up in UAB's loss to Middle Tennessee last week, Humphrey could play in an even bigger role in the Blazers' attack...
