I'm getting so sick and tired of every other article being about race or gender or sexual orientation.

Even if/when the complaint itself has merit, the voices behind this article have zero credibility until they speak out in the same manner against the young man that was just hired as head coach of one of the premier women's college programs in the country after his short stint at Marquette as an assistant, and was hired over head coaches with years of experience that had supposedly expressed interest in the job.  The double standard, hypocrisy of cries such as this should be ignored until there is consistency in the criticism.  Just because the young man that was hired at Louisiana Tech is Pat Summitt's son should not keep these same "champions of women's equality" from criticizing his hire with the same "alarm" and "concern" as what they are voicing over Dykes' hire.

The sad thing is that I actually agree that a college should make an effort to hire a woman for the head coaching position of a woman's college program, but this double standard, hypocrisy harms the receptiveness of the argument, in my opinion.  With one daughter that plays tennis in college and another will likely play golf, I am an advocate for promoting women in these types of positions...but these causes lose credibility when the loudest voices are also the most double standard and hypocritical.

AMEN!

In a perfect world, you could hire good X's and O's women coaches to coach women's basketball.

It's not a perfect world. Arkansas had fewer than 100 fans in attendance for two games last year. Women's college basketball is mostly about people caring, and Dykes made fans care when another coach would not have. It's that simple.

In a perfect world, you would have real girls playing on girls teams

Well, yeah. But that shows how far from a "perfect world" we are. Women's and men's basketball have different priorities. Jeff Long had his priorities right when he made the hire.

Hiring Jimmy Dykes set women's basketball back 10 years.

It won't be long before some 6'8" 250lb man who "identifies" as a girl decides to play women's basketball.

We've already had some very questionable cases in the past (hermaphrodites).

Wow.... That is a scary thought, but I bet your right.

What are those people complaining about?  There are jobs that women get hired for way more than a man.  Strippers, elementary school teachers, bank tellers, waitresses, airline stewardesses, escorts, etc...  Men have to take what they can get.  Sarcasm!

TomBigBeeHog

Thank God for the strippers. I love the artistry and poetic expression exemplified by their dancing.
I spent most of my life drankin', gamblin', and chasing women, the rest I just wasted.

Amen brother!  I would love to be an escort, or in my case, I guess they would call it a gigolo, but women seem to get hired way more than men.  But I would like to see things equal in this area so I could make the same money as they do.
