A lot of people, myself included, overestimated Poche coming into this season. I thought he was a lock for the weekend rotation and could have been the Friday guy. Was i wrong. I hope he figures out his control issues by next season. We need him to reach his potential.

His arm has been bothering him all season. DVH said all he has is a fastball, right now. He doesn't have a 2nd or 3rd pitch as of right now.

It was either Baseball America or Perfect Game who had him somewhere around the top 25 prospects for his draft class. Everyone thought he would be a weekend starter, and probably our best pitcher this year. Like you, I thought he was going to be our Friday starter. I was so excited when these three weekend starters were doing so well, because I expected to have the Poche we expected by conference play. Still waiting, though...

Poche is projected to be a 1st round pick next year by just about everybody because of his 3 pitch mix.  His control has been lacking, but he has also battled injuries which is tough for a pitcher who is expected to be a major contributor like Poche was.

They made him work. They put together some good ABs that made him throw a lot of extra pitches. Wasn't so much a control issue.
