Poche is projected to be a 1st round pick next year by just about everybody because of his 3 pitch mix.  His control has been lacking, but he has also battled injuries which is tough for a pitcher who is expected to be a major contributor like Poche was.
I know, but DVH said the reason he has been struggling this year is because he has not been able to command anything other than his fastball. He said he doesn't have his 2nd or 3rd pitch to go to this year due to all of the arm issues he has had. He mentioned until he gets those pitches going he won't play much, if any on the weekend. Hopefully he can get healthy. I expect him to do big things in the future.

Dugas blown away by a fastball.  Lowery's 1st K and 3rd for Razorback pitching.

Which is understandable after being injured like Poche was.

Good thing we have had other pitchers step up this year so Poche doesn't have to play such a big role for this team.  Poche will need to get healthy so he and Killian can lead this rotation next year.

ucahogfan

Lyons down swinging.  Lowery's 2nd K and 4th tonight for the Hogs.

ucahogfan

Webster caught looking.  Lowery's 3rd K and 5th for the Hogs.

I will never worry about pitching with Jorn and DVH both here. Every year we seem to have a mass exodus of pitchers to the draft, and every year we still post great numbers on the mound.

Benintendi runs the count full, and he draws a leadoff walk.

Benintendi steals 2nd as he was beaten by the ball, but a terrific slide allowed him to reach safely.  Benintendi's 10th steal of the year.

ucahogfan

Bax works the count full, and he flies out to the LF in LCF.

Well, the staff we had in 2013 was pretty much the same one we had in 2011 and 2012.  I agree that this pitching staff is something we will never have to worry about with those 2 and now Vitello who spend 8 years at Missouri as a pitching coach tutoring several current major leaguers including 2013 AL Cy Young winner Max Scherzer.

ucahogfan

Richard out.  Didn't catch how.  Got sidetracked for a second.
