Wernes grounds a single into right.  Anderson moves to 3rd on the slowly hit ball to put runners on the corners with 2 outs.

There I fixed that for you....Nice dig!

2-1 I think.

Unless it was just a perfect pitch to hit I think he should have forced him to throw two strikes before he took the bat off of his shoulder.

Fulmer has filthy stuff and looking at 2 strikes is a mistake unless they are tough pitches.  Bernal's pitch wasn't perfect, but it wasn't a pitcher's pitch either.

Swanson grounds into a 6-4 FC as Bernal made a terrific sliding play.  Almost made the DP even with Swanson's plus speed.

Junior RHP Jacob Stone warming in the pen.

ucahogfan

Turner grounds out 5-3 as the ball wasn't hit hard enough to roll it up.

I understand, the kid just wasn't locating anything and was absolutely dependent on the fastball.

The pitch before that was a perfectly located fastball on the outside corner so he might have found his touch again.  If the bases were empty, I would agree with having Bernal take it, but the pitch was one of the more hittable ones Fulmer has thrown and Bernal just didn't come through with the bases loaded and 2 outs.

Spoon chases a curveball in the dirt.  2-3 putout at 1st completes the play.

Serrano grounds a 2-2 curveball through the hole at SS into left for a 2 out single.

One mistake by Beeks and that's the difference. He's doing pretty well.

Wouldn't have thought it earlier but Beeks may last longer than Fulmer. They were hugging Fulmer in dugout

New pitcher for Vanderbilt is Freshman RHP Hayden Stone (1-0, 1 S, 0.61 ERA).
