Mizzou transfer from UofL, Zach Price arrested suspicion 3rd Degree Domestic Assault

#Mizzou forward Zach Price was arrested early this AM for 3rd degree domestic assault. Posted bond and was released, no more details yet.

According to records online, the arrest occurred around 3:19 a.m. Price sat out this season as a transfer from Louisville.

And just to cover legal bases, tweet should say Price arrested on charges/suspicion of 3rd degree domestic assault, not guilty at this point

What would 3rd degree entail?

Domestic assault, third degree--penalty.
565.074. 1. A person commits the crime of domestic assault in the third degree if the act involves a family or household member, including any child who is a member of the family or household, as defined in section 455.010 and:

(1) The person attempts to cause or recklessly causes physical injury to such family or household member; or

(2) With criminal negligence the person causes physical injury to such family or household member by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument; or

(3) The person purposely places such family or household member in apprehension of immediate physical injury by any means; or

(4) The person recklessly engages in conduct which creates a grave risk of death or serious physical injury to such family or household member; or

(5) The person knowingly causes physical contact with such family or household member knowing the other person will regard the contact as offensive; or

(6) The person knowingly attempts to cause or causes the isolation of such family or household member by unreasonably and substantially restricting or limiting such family or household member's access to other persons, telecommunication devices or transportation for the purpose of isolation.

2. Except as provided in subsection 3 of this section, domestic assault in the third degree is a class A misdemeanor.

3. A person who has pleaded guilty to or been found guilty of the crime of domestic assault in the third degree more than two times against any family or household member as defined in section 455.010, or of any offense committed in violation of any county or municipal ordinance in any state, any state law, any federal law, or any military law which, if committed in this state, would be a violation of this section, is guilty of a class D felony for the third or any subsequent commission of the crime of domestic assault. The offenses described in this subsection may be against the same family or household member or against different family or household members.

"We are aware of the situation involving Zach Price and per department policy, he is suspended immediately," according to a statement released by the school.

Columbia Police Sergeant Joe Bernhard confirmed that Price was arrested at 2:31 a.m. at 3007 Troyer near the intersection of Green Meadows, but the incident that led to his arrest occurred at 1:17 a.m. in the "area of Stadium Boulevard," according to the probable cause statement.

Price, 20, was involved in a dispute with a 23-year-old male roommate and a 23-year-old female and followed them to the area of Stadium Boulevard, blocked in their vehicle with his own vehicle, preventing them from leaving the area, according to the probable cause statement.

The statement said that Price exited the vehicle and struck the male victim in the face with a closed fist. The other victim attempted to intervene and was pushed to the ground by Price.

One of the victims tried to spray Price with mace. Both victims were said to sustain minor injuries as a result of Price's actions.

In the course of the disturbance, Price's vehicle and the male victim's vehicle collided.

Missouri was expected to release a statement regarding Price's status later Thursday morning.

COLUMBIA — Former Missouri basketball player Zach Price arrived to the Boone County Courthouse on Wednesday morning to face allegations of four counts of suspicion of domestic assault. Price and his attorney Patrick Eng waited for the hearing to begin for more than an hour.

"Mr. Price and I were there and ready to proceed," Eng said in a phone interview on Wednesday. "These allegations are totally false."

Price's former Missouri teammate, Earnest Ross, never showed up.

Due to Ross' absence from court, the hearing, along with Ross' original restraining order against Price, were dismissed.

Ross had filed a restraining order against Price to the Boone County Circuit Court on April 2. The petition was related to Price's two arrests in a single day stemming from allegations of domestic assault.

Price's dismissal from the team came as a shock to both him and Eng. Eng said he was surprised by Price's dismissal from the team because charges were never filed.

"It was so swift," he added. "So swift in such a short period of time. I think that we are less than 10 days from the day since the allegations."

As with DGB, extremely poor timing to be involved in such a series of incidents at Mizzou.
