Lanny has always been good about letting posts be made here on Arkansas teams  that do not have dedicated forums. Just a note on 2 of those sports for those who care.

The men's  Indoor Track and Field team began the season ranked #1 and continues to hold that spot. The Razorbacks are the defending National Champions.

The Arkansas Ice Hockey team (the Ice Hogs) play for the SECHC championship today at 2:30 against Alabama. In their first 2 tournament games the Ice Hogs have beaten Tennessee 13-0 and a highly rated South Carolina 11-2. Arkansas is undefeated in D3 club hockey this year and has beaten several higher division teams including a D1 team. They are ranked 1st in the Pacific Hockey Division and will have a bye to the National Championship Tournament. For anyone interested in listening to the championship game today the link will be posted below. Alabama is hosting so it is their broadcast.

Alabama had 3 power plays to none for the Hogs. Means we played 6 of the 20 minutes short-handed.

Arkansas scores into its own goal to give Alabama a 1-0 lead. This came while Arkansas had pulled its goalie on a delayed penalty.

Undefeated against DIII opponents this year. And if I'm not mistaken we only have 2-3 seniors on this team.

I still wish they named the team, "Razor Blades." I've been to an Ice Hogs game and it was a lot of fun.

Our goalie, Scheer,  was outstanding. He gave up no goals as he was out of the game when we scored Bama's only goal for them. He was named the first star of the game.

Our team is composed of 2 seniors, 6 juniors, 9 sophmores and 13 freshmen.

23 of the 30 players on our roster are from Texas. I wish football could recruit like that in Texas.

That's because the Stars are in Texas.  My son played for the Dallas Junior Stars in high school and went to aTm because the was one of the few schools that had a hockey program.

When did Arkansas move to the Pacific Division, and why? I thought they were in the South.

Just this year and I assume it was to balance the divisions and we are the farthest west in the conference. This link will take you to the D3 rankings and you can see some of the other teams.

You will never see the UA go to the expense of putting any ice in Barnhill if the Hogs are only playing club hockey. It's like the pee wee league of real NCAA D1 hockey. Title IX destroys any chance of ever moving up anyway.
