DeMarco Robinson is doing all he can to give up his starting spot on the Kentucky football team. The junior wide receiver was suspended indefinitely prior to the Georgia game last season and he'll face a new punishment soon, thanks to new trouble. University of Kentucky football player Demarco Robinson was arrested early Friday morning in Lexington and charged with disorderly conduct, violation of a noise ordinance and resisting arrest. He pleaded not guilty to the charges later in the day.

The rising senior wide receiver was already on indefinite suspension from the team. Robinson, a 5-foot-10, 158-pound native of Ellenwood, Ga., missed the final two games of the 2013 season for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

Coach Mark Stoops said in November he expected Robinson to be back on the team in 2014 "provided he meets some requirements that we'll put on him."

QuoteRobinson's roommate, Jerry Williams III, a former UK football player, was also arrested on the same charges but paints an interesting picture of how the events unfolded.

Williams said he, Robinson, two women and other Wildcats football players — who were not arrested and Williams declined to name — were playing video games in their apartment late Thursday night when police arrived.

Williams admits the game was probably too loud, but claims a police officer forced his way into the home, grabbed Williams by the neck, slammed him into a refrigerator, then onto the ground and twisted his arm behind his back.

Williams also said an officer slammed Robinson into a wooden living room table, breaking it.

One of the women there, 36-year-old Miranda Johnson, recorded video of it on her phone, Williams said, but he claims police tried to wrestle the phone away from her and threatened her with arrest if she didn't delete the video.

Fayette County Detention Center records show Johnson was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Williams said her phone was confiscated by police and hasn't been returned.

A detailed arrest report was not yet available Friday afternoon as Robinson and Williams had not been arraigned. Police spokesperson Sherelle Roberts issued a statement in response to Williams' claims.

"The Lexington Division of Police does not respond, through the media, to complaints made by suspects involved in ongoing criminal investigations. The details of the arrest and the case will be made public during court proceedings," the statement read.

That can't be good for recruiting.

Bama freshman cornerback Tony Brown arrested

Ozen CB Tony Brown will have a different kind of hurdle to clear to see the field

QuoteJust weeks after enrolling a semester early at the University of Alabama dual-sport athlete Tony Brown found trouble.

The football/track athlete was arrested Saturday and charged with failure to obey and resisting arrest. Tuscaloosa police would only confirm Brown was arrested, but turned down multiple requests to view the arrest log for specific charges.

Brown missed Saturday's season-opening indoor track and field meet with a shoulder injury, but was expected to run the 110 hurdles and be a member of the 4x100 relay team this spring.

Brown is ranked as one of the best cornerbacks in our nation.

Missouri wide receiver Levi Copelin, who recently finished his redshirt freshman season with the Tigers, was arrested Thursday for a peace disturbance, a class B misdemeanor.

MU police Capt. Brian Weimer said Copelin went into the campus student ID center around 4 p.m. Thursday to get a replacement ID.

Copelin was told there was a hold on his account, Weimer said, and became upset, making statements that the center staff felt were threatening.

Weimer said police made contact with Copelin, who came to the station and was interviewed, arrested and transported to the Boone County Jail.

Copelin was booked into the Boone County Jail at around 9:45 p.m. and released on $500 bond around midnight.

He has a court date set for Feb. 19 at 1:30 p.m. at the Boone County Courthouse.

Tigers spokesman Chad Moller said the team is aware of Copelin's arrest and "dealing with it internally."

Copelin, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound wideout from Broken Arrow, Okla., caught three passes for 61 yards this season, also making four special-teams tackles and blocking a punt that led to a touchdown at Kentucky on Nov. 9.

He was previously arrested, along with wideout Dorial Green-Beckham and linebacker Torey Boozer, on Oct., 3, 2012 on suspicion of possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana.

Wayne County prosecutor has scheduled a press conference to announce if charges will be filed.

Michigan State may have pulled their offer on the 2015 commit.

A Detroit Cass Tech football star accused of slamming a school security officer head first into the ground last month was arraigned on assault charges this morning in Detroit.

Jayru Campbell, 17, turned himself in to authorities this morning and appeared in 36th District Court via a video connection. He wore a letterman jacket during the hearing lasting less than four minutes and a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf.

Chief Magistrate Millicent Sherman set bond at $5,000, 10% cash or surety, and ordered that Campbell, who remains suspended from school, have no contact with the alleged victim.

"He has no prior contact with the system," Campbell's attorney Jeffrey Edison said during the hearing...

Next step in the process is scheduled for Feb. 24.

Michigan State in other new is proud of the class they've assembled.

Former KU football player pleads guilty to felony robbery

Chris Martin, a 22-year-old former Kansas University football player and one of four men arrested following a May 2013 robbery in west Lawrence, pleaded guilty to felony robbery on Friday.

Quote"I took U.S. currency and marijuana from Marcus D. Folks," Martin told District Judge Paula Martin on Friday, referring to the 25-year-old KU student allegedly robbed during the May 13 incident at a home in the 1900 block of Camelback Drive.

Martin admitted to grabbing the cash, which prosecutors determined to be less than $100, and running off. Initial reports by police suspected Martin and three other men of robbing Folks at gunpoint. Martin's attorney, Sarah Swain, said Friday that the amended charge agreed upon after negotiations made no reference to a weapon being used. Also as part of the agreement, the prosecution will not ask that Martin be required to register as a violent offender.

Martin, an Oakland, Calif., native, now attends New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, N.M., and is listed as a junior defensive lineman...

KBTX - Bryan/College Station: Another Texas A&M football player has been arrested, this time for disorderly conduct in the Northgate District.

Ricky Seals-Jones, a freshman wide receiver from Sealy, was taken into custody around 2:30 a.m. Sunday on a charge of Disorderly Conduct (Language).

QuoteAccording to police, Seals-Jones was being "carried away by his friends" as the bars were closing in the 100 block of College Main. An officer says he saw someone bump into Seals-Jones, which led the wideout to reportedly start exchanging words with the person.

As the officer moved towards the scene to see and hear what was going on, he says Seals-Jones broke away from his friends and yelled "F*** you! You want some?" The officer also says Seals-Jones motioned to the other person like he wanted to fight. The player was taken into custody on the misdemeanor charge.

Seals-Jones was injured in the 2013 season opener against Rice while scoring a touchdown. He sat out the next game against Sam Houston State, had limited playing time in the Alabama game, and was given a medical redshirt to maintain his year of eligibility. He was among the most highly-touted wide receivers in the nation out of high school.

Aggie Athletics spokesperson Alan Cannon tells News 3 the Texas A&M Athletics Department is looking into the incident and determining what steps to take. For past arrests of players, indefinite suspensions have been handed down. Since spring has passed, Cannon says if a suspension were levied, it would include team lifting and running for the time being.

The initial word from Aggie Athletics to KBTX was that Seals-Jones would be suspended, but the department later revised that.

Two University of Texas football players were questioned by campus police as part of an investigation into an alleged sexual assault

QuoteBatesville native Charlie Strong has firm beliefs about how his players should act around women. One of his stated five "core values" is to treat women with respect. He has said previously that violating one of his five core values was a sure way for a player to lose his scholarship.

Ole Miss defensive back Senquez Golson was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with disorderly conduct. The incident occurred at 4:50 a.m. local time. (Nothing good happens after 4:30 AM, including running stadium steps?)

QuoteA Gautier Police Department spokesman told the paper today that an "officer was in the midst of a call and he encountered Golson. He attempted to identify him, but he didn't have any identification on him and he wouldn't give information."

Coach Freeze was not able to keep this one off the sports page.  Golson starred in baseball and football at Pascagoula in High School.  He turned down a big MLB opportunity to play at Ole Miss.
