6-6, maybe 7-5. I am certain though our record will not change during the bye weeks.

I'll go ahead and predict two home wins against State and Allbarn since both are after open dates.  That would put us at 6-6.  Though I wouldn't be surprised if we split them and went 5-7

clutch

I'm thinking 6-6 or 7-5 if we can pull off a win against Ole Miss or South Carolina which either will be tough.

7-5, wins over the 3 cupcakes, Rutgers, Auburn, Ole Piss, and Mississippi State.

Don't know about you record, but I do agree with these guys about the UL game.

I also predict UL will go 1-1 in games played in Arkansas this year.

My regular season predictions.

Hogs   6-6   (can be 7-5 if we can win at home against South Carolina)

ASU   5-7   (ASU's Head Coach is a 1st time collegiate Head Coach learning on the job)

UCA   11-1  (at worst 10-2)

For qualification/explanation purposes, for the Hogs to get to that possible 7-5 I stated, there can't be any key injuries this season (i.e., Travis Swanson can't get injured, Brandon Allen can't get injured, and Tevin Mitchel can't get injured).  Any key injuries could definitely have a detrimental impact in regards to a positive regular season record for the Hogs.

Regarding ASU, Bryan Harsin's head coaching ability is really an unknown.  He was down at Texas with Mack Brown, so Mack Brown's bad coaching/bad system could have ingrained itself into Harsin.  Additionally, ASU will be playing a new QB.

Regarding UCA, UCA has 12 players who have been selected Preseason All-Conference.  9 of the 12 are 1st Team All-Conference.  The following is the breakdown of those 12 UCA players who are Preseason All-Conference.

QB    1st Team All-Conference
WR   1st Team All-Conference
OG   1st Team All-Conference
K      1st Team All-Conference
DT    1st Team All-Conference
DE    1st Team All-Conference
LB    1st Team All-Conference
S     1st Team All-Conference
S     1st Team All-Conference

OT    2nd Team All-Conference
OT    2nd Team All-Conference
CB    2nd Team All-Conference

(after the link loads, have to scroll down to the lower part of the page to view the Preseason All-Conference list)

Two of UCA's players have been named by Phil Steele as a Preseason All-American  (a Defensive End and a Safety).

2013 might be Clint Conque's best UCA team.  That is saying something because Conque has had a 11 win season at UCA (2005), and a 10 win season at UCA (2008).

5-7 wins depending on injuries and ball bounces. Very few elite coaches make dramatic improvements in one year. It takes a coach at least that long to get the players acclimated to a new system, spot the trouble makers and dissenters, and develop trust amongst the players. Here are some examples of great coaches in their first year at a new place.

Nick Saban- Bama won more game in 07 than they did in 06.
Pete Carroll- USC won one more game in 01 than they did in 2000
Mark Richt- Same record in 01 as 2000.
Jim Tressell- Lost one more game in 2001 as Ohio State did in 2000
Bobby Petrino- Lost 3 more games in 2008 as Arkansas did in 2007.
Urban Meyer- Won two more games in 2005 than Florida did in 2004.
Bob Stoops- won two more games his first year than Oklahoma did in 1998.

Gains will be largely invisible and will probably not begin to show until next year. If we get to a bowl game and improve recruiting, I'll be happy.

Good thing for ASU and UCA is that they do not play in the SEC, and those players are difference makers for their programs. Their future is bright.

Bad for the Hawgs, they do play in the SEC, and not one of the other P5 Conferences. Their future is not so bright. They will get their butts kicked in very nice facilities.

I think we'll squeek into a bowl game; possibly a fairly decent one. We'll have a season where we see many bright spots and a glimpse of things to come. Play calling won't get us, just the guys getting familiar with a new system. Patience.

Anything above 4 is manna from heaven, and four is a stretch.

If the P5 go their separate ways after this season and don't play the G5 (your worse nightmare come true as a  Razorback fan, but not likely to happen) , anything above 6 wins will be a very, very, very good season for Razorback football, going forward. Seven + win seasons will be few and far between, if it does happen.

Keep overlooking the Ragin Cajuns.  We are a much better school and program than ULM.  We almost beat Florida last year and we are loaded with seniors and talent on offense.  Defense is our biggest worry.  I expect the Hogs to come out ready to make a statement.  If we can weather the storm and make it a fourth quarter game I like our chances.

It really doesn't matter to a high quality Head Coach like Conque if there is only 5-10 players on his Roster that ASU would want.  Conque has the players that he recruited, and he will coach them, develop them, and win football games (will win a lot of football games).

Clint Conque has close to 30 years experience coaching football at the collegiate level.  The lack of collegiate football coaching experience that is currently in charge up at Jonesboro (and that was just recently in charge with the last 2 ASU Head Football Coaches) should never be compared to the level of Coach like Conque.

If we can't beat ya'll, the season is already over! I know the ragin cajuns are a good lower tier team, but you'll always be in the auto-win column on Arkansas's schedule, its just the order of things.  Even if you pull a rabbit out of the hat this year, enjoy it, it won't happen again for the next 25 years.  So yes, I am over looking the cajuns because if we can't be you guys on our home field then our season is already over.

IMHO both teams have that game circled as it's all both teams are concerned about. A win in DWRRS would be huge for the Cajuns, that goes without saying. The Hogs on the other hand, have very vivid memories of being upset by ULM in Little Rock last season so they'll be pulling out all stops to make sure they don't get upset by another team from the same conference and the same state. Advantage Arkansas but I'm not expecting a lop sided blow out, just a comfortable win.

I think you guys will be looking to make a statement that last year against ULM was a fluke.  IF we can get up early on you and make it a 4th quarter game anything can happen.  On paper you guys have much more talent.  The question is if it will be used on that day in the proper way.  Frankly I think we have a better shot at K-State.  That is if they have forgotten how we beat them a few years ago.  Good luck in SEC play and the rest of your schedule.  I have family in Arkansas so I've always kind of pulled for you guys, that's especially true when you play LSU.  Drop by our board and say hello.  www.raginpagin.com

I realize this is something to talk about in July, but the focus should be on ULL. I'm sure CBB will concentrate on having the Hogs ready, but ULL is much better than ULM. Fortunately ULL's defense is a weakness, but they can light up the scoreboard. AR should win, but the Cajuns are dangerous.

I think if we go 6-6 CB should get Coach of the year, Rutgers will be a tough team to beat at home, Southern Miss has beaten many SEC teams and put the fear of God in the likes of all of the big boys, why does everyone look at them as an automatic win?

My honest prediction?  7-5.  Bowl win 8-5.  CBB gets coach of the year.

I think we left two 'W's on the field last year that BP would have won by shear force of will if nothing else.  This staff will put those two games in our 'W' column.  Plus I think we win one we're not supposed to win.  7-5.
I don't like to plan my day because then the word premeditated comes into the conversation.

Pull a rabbit out of a hat? There is more skill on our team than you know. Also, with the way our administration is finally taking advantage of having one of the best spots in the country to have a football team, between Texas and Florida and along I-10, for the next 25 years I see UL and Arkansas being very competitive. In a month this game will happen and I can't wait!
