The 10 Worst Seasons in Razorback History
« on: September 23, 2012, 12:04:47 pm »

Contrary to popular myth, Jack Crowe doesn't hold the record for the worst Arkansas team ever.

That "honor" goes to Otis Douglass, hired away from the Philadelphia Eagles in 1950.  His 1950-52 Hogs had some ten players who went on to multi-year NFL careers including Pat Summerall.

year / coach / record / pct
1950 Otis Douglas 2-8-0 20%
1952 Otis Douglas 2-8-0 20%
1932 Fred C. Thomsen 1-6-2   22%
1943 John Tomlin   2-7-0 22%
1905 A.D. Brown   2-6-0 25%
1938 Fred C. Thomsen 2-7-1   25%
1990 Jack Crowe   3-8-0 27%
1941 Fred C. Thomsen 3-7-0   30%
1942 George Cole   3-7-0 30%
1945 Glen Rose 3-7-0 30%

Tomlin, Cole, and Rose were all essentially interim coaches leading 17 & 18 year olds after Thomsen was called to active duty in WWII.

We might be on pace to set a new low.

We might be on pace to set a new low.

1-11 or 2-10 sets the record 3-9 ties 1938 for 6th worse record.  In essence, Kentucky & Tulsa have become must wins to avoid the all-time cellar.
