Essex Park. Located just past lakeside school on Malvern Avenue. it was on the banks of Lake Catherine. Where Essex Golf course is now. not too long after it opened it mysteriously burned down... one way to destroy the competition. haha

Purchased this post card the other day.  Printed in 1905 Essex track was spelled incorrectly as Essick

Forget Little Rock. Hot Springs has the most interesting history of any town in Arkansas.

Sportsman Park was the first race track (1/2 mile oval) in Hot Springs.  Ran in 1891 and 1894
