Rockies fan here...ugh... yes, i join you in your laughter....ill get this one started...first a little background...the Rox, by many media types, were picked to contend for the NL west last season. We finished about 20 games out ...(i lost track, quit keeping up it got so bad)...which was quickly followed at seasons end by the "strong"..or "ghey" imo statement from rox management that Jim tracy and staff would be returning this year. Im like , um, why ???... but anyway...movinng on....then this Spring the rox offer 49 yo Jamie Moyer a chance at spring training....then he was talked about as our #5 guy.. well yesterday apparently he is #2 in our rotation.... this from an organization which keeps it fans at bay by saying "we develop our own talent"..... seems that development  component is pretty lacking if a 49 yo man with 84 mph fastball is your #2 guy,,,,, we are an absolute fiasco...  but the key is i   have absolutely zero expectations from the team...  anyone else?

Lol, I'm a Royals fan. We haven't sniffed the playoffs in a couple decades.

Your day is coming, though.  Loads of young talent in that system.  And Dayton Moore came from Jon Scheurholz's staff in Atlanta.  He may be loading up on Braves cast-offs now, but he's just using them as filler until the real talent is developed and ready.

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I agree. It won't be long until the Royals take off like the Rays did a few years ago. They've got a lot of young talent. I can't wait to see it either. I'm a Cardinals fan, but have always pulled for the Royals in the AL. I guess mainly  because they have been so bad for so long and I want to see them get it turned around.

Your at Coors Field; I thought you guys didn't care about pitching.

Royals are 2014 AL Central Champs.

I would probably cry like a woman if this happened. Seriously, it's been since Bo Jackson since we won our division.

Lifetime Royals fan.. they have been so bad for so long it's entertaining now..

I'd like to believe the young talent will stick around and make the Royals competitive again, but I'm sure they will develop the talent then other teams that care about winning will buy that talent. We are a farm team for the teams that matter. The Royals wont ever be competitive again. I've learned to just accept it.

It's really frustrating.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs hired Romeo to be the HC. I'm starting to think God is Rick Rolling me.

I think the Chiefs are in better shape to compete than the Royals, like you said " The Royals are a Farm team" for the real teams...

Yeah, I just wish they would've kept Romeo as DC and hire someone else as HC.

I think they will keep them around long enough to make a run and then unload. A Florida Marlins type deal.

So, do you start drinking on opening day, or do you get your liver loose during Spring Training?

Well they don't call it Spring Training for nothing.  My opening day is much like the Family Guy take on Mets opening season.

My condolences.  My in-laws live in southeast Kansas and are big Royals fans.  I feel sorry for them since they're out of it by June every year, and I've got a ton of respect for die-hards for awful franchises.

obviously we dont. Just a little bit of pitching would be nice though, at least solid AAA level pitching. Are the Pine Bluff Braves still around? maybe we can pick up their #4 or #5 guy

LGHOG

Padres fan here. They have a gorgeous new stadium in downtown San Diego on the waterfront and they can barely field a team.

I dont know why I like the cubs. People tell me all the time you cant like the cubs and razorbacks. All the cubs have ever done for me is to raise my blood pressure, and to have my hopes of winning crushed year after year after year......

One of my buddies is a self-loathing Cubs (aren't they all? :)).  His reasoning for continuing to love them is that he doesn't want to be left out of the mix or appear to be a bandwagon fan when they finally end up winning a World Series again, whenever that might be.

Rockies update..well we won our first series of the year (1 of 3)... lost season opening series to the Astros (guess WE can lay calim to MLB's worst team)... got a complete game pitched against us by Barry " I doinked Alyssa Milano" Zito (lucky bast%%d). Good news is helton is hitting....our starting pitching is  a bad joke. Moyer  actually could be 2 and 0. His pitching has been decnt enough to win, we just havent scored any runs. We stink. No pitching of note. We will be last or next to last down there with san diego.

superior_wang

jsut for the record  my 13+ games out Rockies are up 4-0 in the 3rd ofver the As. At home. Bet we lose.

superior_wang

ah, i know my team well. Swear  it the top of the 3rd, and now oakland is up 5-4 including a shot that hit the facing of the 3rd deck   ,,above the 375 ft sign.  We couldnt beat a good babe ruth team (or is that  cal ripken?)

Dodgers fan.  I keep waiting for the shoe to drop.  Last year was painful and it seems that every year they fall apart after the break.
