Here's an interesting response from Nolan Richardson from an old Ark Dem Gaz 2001 article when asked about recruiting.

This is what Arkansas Coach Nolan Richardson said after the early signing period about recruiting big-time players:

"The big-name guys that are big, big, nine out of 10 times are not coming to Arkansas. The big-name guys who are on the East Coast or the West Coast are basically going to stay on the East Coast and the West Coast. The only time we're going to get big-name guys to the program here is the fact that I know the grandfather or somebody knows an uncle, then we have a pretty decent chance to recruit. I've always tried to recruit what I have a chance of getting."

Reminds me of the time someone asked Nolan why the SEC has so much talent. His response: "The southeast is where the slave ships came in."  Not an exact quote but it was something similar to that.
