Plus, they have received several votes in both polls.  Not too shabby.  They accepted a bid to the GoDaddy.com Bowl.

Lanny, in a "what if" scenario let's say I hit the powerball jackpot... what would it take to buy Hogville from you?

Is Danica Patrick going to be 1/2 nekkid at the game? If so it's well worth going.

I am still hoping that they win their bowl game, and sneak into the Top 25.

Then, if Auburn were to lose and we were to emerge triumphant over Alabama, we could say that football in the state of Arkansas was definitively better than football in Alabama, top to bottom.

the giddiness of razorbacks is at such a level right now that we can share some of the happy feelings with one of the best asu teams they've had since coming to division 1.

since there is no danger of the two ever playing, i don't see the harm in wishing the red wolves well and enjoying their success too

And vice-versa from us at ASU.

Also UCA made the FCS playoffs in only their second year.  That is not an easy accomplishment.

1986 when the Indians lost to Ga Southern in the 1AA championship game - went 12-2-1.  Before that it was '75, when they went 11-0 and Hogs went 10-2 and whipped UGA in Cotton Bowl.  ASU did not get an invite to any bowl, which led to Southland Conference creating Independance Bowl and to ASU making the stupid 'How Long will they Run' bumper stickers.

Been a great sports year for me. Cardinals win the World Series, Razorbacks are more than likely #3 in the country, and it looks like ASU will win 10 games.

Hard to root for ASwho when you live in NEA and have to listen to the "fan base" run down the Hogs instead of rooting for their own squad

Who cares? You think the Auburn board is happy for Bama being #2? Maybe it's time we start playing these losers in the Rock once a year.

NEA Hog fans and ASU fans will never get along.  The hog fans dont understand why ASU fans cant support Arkansas, and the ASU fans dont understand why the hog fans wont support ASU.

As for the rest of the state, they two fan bases are able to coexist quite harmoniously, as long as no one starts bringing up the "policy."

It is primarily a battle between NEA jerks about who will be the biggest NEA jerks.  I think the battle is tied at the moment.

It has little to do with the rest of the state or the rest of the two schools fanbases.  It really doesn't even have much to do with the two schools.

As for me, I am pretty darn happy about the situation for UA, ASU, and UCA because I'm an Arkansan.

No, we don't care if ASU fans don't support the Hogs, we get sick and tired of hearing ASU fans degrade the Hogs with vitriol in our workplaces, churches, etc...  I moved away from NEA 7 years ago and still get to see the same ASU types doing the same ol', same ol' on social media every day.

IIRC, 1994 was ASU's first season competing in FBS football.  My memory may be off, though.

by recent  i meant i thought it had been longer ago than it has been that we were dominant. 86 isn't all that long ago unless you were born in the 90s.

for me a long time ago was a time that i don't remember and since i was 9 in 1986 it doesn't seem that long ago to me

Frankly, UA jerks and ASU jerks can jerk together.  They are both minorities of their respective fan bases.  As an ASU alum and being from NEA I don't know a single one of these people in my personal ASU circles.  Last night on the phone and internet we were talking primarily about ASU, but we also talked about UA BCSNCG chances, and also the potential of UCA in the FCS playoffs.

I also work in Central Arkansas and do not personally know a single Hog fan who is a jerk about ASU and who has not been supportive.

The alleged "hate" between the two fanbases is way overblown...usually by a few NEA trolls from both sides on the internet.

All I can draw from is my own experience and it is rife with ASU fans spewing hate.  Turned me from being a teen who went to their games and cheered them on to a detractor of their program.

You can say it isn't so, but all the true die-hard ASU fans I know are equally as die-hard Hog haters.  The two things seem to go hand in hand.

Correction; they joined D1A as an independent in 1992.   The FBS designation didn't come until after the NCAA changed the name of D1A.

As a fan of both programs, that is not my personal experience.  Everyone's experience can be different though.

It seems clear to me that the worst of it though is in NEA between other people in NEA.  As a Northeast Arkansan myself I wish they would just go ahead and take each other out...or get themselves a room.

Yep.  I am an ASU alum and have been a fan of ASU since '67.  In '78 my family became Razorback fans before the Orange Bowl.  My dad (also an ASU alum) was impressed with the Razorbacks willingly going into that game short-handed and enforcing their own rules.  He said any program that acted that way was representing Arkansas well and deserved support and would be rewarded.  He was right.  UA, ASU, and UCA are all representing us well right now.

I also went to ASU and was there in 1970 when they went 11-0 and was the NCAA small college national champ. Don't know if any of you remember Bill Bergey, linebacker for Philadelphia Eagles, he played on that team, FWIW.

Not sure what an ASU type is but I do not have a problem with the fact that some ASU fans will only support ASU and some Razorback fans will only support the Razorbacks or that most support both.

I think that most people here realize that those posters  who try to imply that all NEA ASU fans hate the Razorbacks are liars and leave it at that.

Off subject but looks like you guys are going to be the center of the college football universe for a few days. Don't go and get a bighead as a result of all the attention.

When ASU went to the New Orleans Bowl we got a lot of support on this board and it was appreciated.  I frankly don't care what anyone thinks, I'm a fan of both programs, and all Arkansas sports.

I remember when ASU went to the New Orleans bowl and a group of their fans used the stage as an opportunity to get their signs on television chiding the Razorbacks for having a losing season and not making a bowl game.

Ok, a couple points.

First, ASU deserves to be congratulated on their success this year. Freeze has done an excellent job. They have had some very good players recruited by Steve Roberts, and have been the beneficiary of a down year in the Sun Belt.

There are, however, more people in NEA than many know who are extremely anti-UA. Many of them cannot afford to speak up that loudly, but I have seen it exist personally. And, there are some in statewide political positions of note that do hold these feelings.

Today's Jonesboro Sun reports that Dean Lee, ASU AD, now states that ASU is one of the nation's top 25 football programs. Yes, thats what he said. Not just a top 25 team this year, but rather top 25 program. That statement speaks for itself in terms of lack of perspective.

Yes, there are those on both sides who are extreme against the other school. But there are far more true zealots on the pro-ASU side than the pro-UA side. A prime example is when the women played each other a couple years ago in JBR. Many of you will know what I am talking about.

Quit the bitching, ASU is an Arkansas school that is having a good year with their football program. If you don't like it why even respond and try to re-open some old wound. Arkansas football is on the rise in the whole state. If that ain't enough for some of ya, then you need to get off your high horses and show some respect. I doubt some of you can do either.

Get off your high horse.  I'm not an ASU fan.  I don't owe them anything, but I acknowledge they're having a great season.

Opinions vary.

Read "Who's afraid of the big bad (red) wolves?" on Arkansas stAte's facebook wall and you'll learn that we're scared to play them, Frank is yellow and still calls the shots and that ASU would win 1 of 5 games if they were played, among other things.

Why do you care what some ASU fans say?  You are #3 in the BCS and are very likely to get a slot in the BCSNCG.  I guarantee you that Alabama fans are not giving a flying flip what Troy fans are saying this week or LSU worrying about ULL fans comments.

Here I am.  An ASU alum and fan who is pulling for the Hogs to win it all.  I will be sitting in front of the tv agonizing on every play.  Why do I not matter?  Why are you not judging my program by ME instead of them?  Why do those ASU fans trump me and my family and friends in your mind?

I don't expect to change your mind, I just think its all overblown.  I am going to root for UA, ASU, and UCA and people can think what they want.

If that works for you, that's great, enjoy!  Seriously, enjoy it and soak it all in.  If you had loyalty only to ASU and concentrated on supporting them only, I'd tell you the same thing.

I only have loyalty to one team in Arkansas and don't really care about the other teams in the state to be honest.  My only issue with ASU has been my exposure to the worst element of the their fan base, the ones so obsessed with downing my team that I really began to enjoy ASU's failure and the angst it caused that element.  The more ASU failed the more that element blamed Frank and the UofA for their problems.

That "How long will the Hogs run?" campaign really torqued me also.  I was really irritated when I discovered that ASU's administration was pushing it.  I thought that was incredibly bush league for a university.

My disdain for ASU has subsided somewhat since I got away from that crowd, but I don't support the program and I really don't like seeing them propped up on a Razorback message board over and over again.

But you seem like a class act so I don't have a beef with you.

I heard a great ASU fan hope that they'd play Arkansas in a bowl game (THIS YEAR) and ASU would come down and win it with a field goal at the gun, and Broyles would come down to midfield and die, and when they did the autopsy right there, they'd find a small black lump of coal for a heart. and that the legislature WANTED the two teams to play, and the Hogs would have to give them respect if they won, and Beebe would make them play as a final executive order before he stepped down from the governor's mansion.

I was speechless. I just shook my head and walked away. There was no point in getting in a fight with that.
