Hello again everybody:)

I hope you all had the opportunity to listen to the interview Mike and Bo had with Mitchell this morning.  If you did I think it will go a long way in helping you understand what has been going on with this whole process.  Thank you Bo and Mike for offering him the chance to be on the air to answer some of the questions and address the issues that have been discussed and contemplated in here.

The reason I have been posting as I'm sure you know was to try to give a snapshot of the total situation as best I could.  But first and foremost I wanted to at the very least try to convey to you a perspective from Mitchells vantage point.  I can't speak for him or give you the answer you all want to hear because only he can answer.... and he will.

Maybe now that you have heard it from Mitchell himself you can see that most all of the rumors that have been put forth are just that .... rumors.  He is honestly stepping back and taking a look at the entire picture before he commits himself to a very large obligation.  He wants to make sure he is doing the right thing for himself and for the program,  I don't think any of us can argue with that thinking.

Thanks to everybody who has offered positive words of encouragement to him.... and also those who have expressed your frustrations.   As has been mentioned by myself and moderators he does visit here and participate.... and he has just confirmed that himself.   It's been a hoot to here some people in here absolutely deny that he posts in here and speculate that some of these posts (mine included) were actually written by the moderators themselves to try to bring traffic in but I guess it's understandable too.

I think now you believe that Mitchell has a deep respect for the state, the program, and most importantly YOU the fans.  So much so that he wanted to talk to you this morning.

If and when he commits to stay home... I hope you will understand that it was well thought out and done for the right reasons and done with conviction.

Who better to lead a team onto the field.

Take care.... and Go Hogs:)

What's "The Truth"?  Is Mitch Mustain going to play football for: (a) Arkansas or (b) somewhere else?

If my son/relative/grandson/friend had a program like Notre Dame looking at him I'd have him look into it as well.  Good luck to the young man whith his decision.

I have always said the MM will be a Hog... And he is doing the same thing any of would do for a potential employer... But this is the decision of a 17 yr old.....  I couldn't decide what girl I like.... (needless to say that got me into trouble) let alone who to play for...   when I was 17...  Hell I have trouble now (needless to say that gets me into alot of trouble)... He is a great football player, but more imortantly he is a great person.. That is what gets you through life...

As is Mitch and everyone else,  I'll just be glad when this is over.   :-\

CorningHog

I will say this:

As disappointing as last season was, and for the coaches and players as well as the fans, CAN YOU imagine what football ticket sales will be like with not only the TEAMS coming into Reynolds Razorback Stadium and home of the JUMBOTRON!, but also the new coaches, players like Mitch Mustain and the potential storyline developing with Mitch, Gus, Andrew, Ben and hopefully Damian Williams!

I don't know if Bartley will change his mind or Damian.  I guess we would be hopeful there.  For Mitch, if he chooses the Razorbacks, (And I think he will) you can expect one heck of an incredible stream of additional ticket holders and I will go ahead and be the

FIRST to predict!  If Mitch signs with Arkansas that coupled with Gus Malzahn as OC and Alex Wood's influence and experience from the NFL, that ticket sales will get close to selling out for the first time in HISTORY at Arkansas.

I have already heard from one fan that did not buy last year, a business man and friend of my friends.  He said he was ready to buy again and was very excited!  Mainly due to Gus, but also the expectations of Mitch coming on board.

I think Arkansas sold what, like 59 to 60K in season tickets last year?  I may be wrong on that number.

Anyway, it will be close to complete sellouts in season tickets this year if Mitch comes!

Thanks for the post. I truly believe Mitch and his family want him to become a Razorback. In the long run Mitch's decommitment will be a positive for the football program, just look at all the changes for the positive that have happened. Everybody at one time or another has important life changing decisions they have to make, but unlike Mitch and his family we don't have the whole state of Arkansas watching. I can't even imagine,  nor am I guessing most people can understand what that is like. The only advice I can add, which was what my mother told me when I had a tuff decision to make , was follow your heart. Best of luck!!!

Thanks for the post. I'm convinced Mitch want to be a Hog. It is time everyone ( Mitch, Gus, Houston,ect..) gets on the same page though. Mitch needs to just go ahead and do what it is so very obvious he wants to do, which is become a Hog, so we ALL can finish out this recruiting year on a major upswing and head off to the 2006 season ready to kick some butt. I'll be in the West upperdeck doing my part as well as sending in my $$$ to the Razorback Foundation and the ticket office.

Just my humble opinion.

Did I miss something? I listened to the whole interview also. I got the distinct impression that ND was where he leaning towards at this time. By saying that "that offense will do well with Coach Malzahn", I get the impression he is speaking as someone looking from the outside in. He will be looking at how Gus does from his athletic dorm in South Bend.
Just my humble opinion also, and I hope I am so VERY WRONG!!!

I honestly don't think it's anyone's business in knowing what his handle is. I don't see your real name on here. I sure as hell don't want my real name on here. Just let it be. I doubt he wants a billion messages every time he wants to log on here and unwind while reading the comedy relief some people on here provide. He said he gets a kick out of logging on here and reading what people have to say and such. This is probably one of the few places where he doesn't have to be "THE MITCH MUSTAIN"! Let's just be happy we know that he's here somewhere and might even read some of our posts. That should be enough. It certainly is for me.

Sorry if that come across as being confrontational. That isn't my intent. I just don't see why we all should know who he is... when those rules don't apply to any of the rest of us. Know what I mean ???

Well, I haven't been able to listen to the program - I will do so tonight after work.  But I have to give Mitch a tip of the cap for taking the initiative to go on radio, clear the air, confirm some facts, and dispel some rumors.  I appreciate the fact that he felt it was necessary to do some PR - that's just a smart move.

Short story here....  my close friend I tailgate with sits up there.  He got escorted out by ushers during the Florida game a few years back (the Bua late hit, Matt Jones comeback game).  He was up yelling for the hogs and some guy popped him in the back of the head, told him to sitdown.

My wonderful friend who is a FANATIC about the hogs, told the entire section up there that maybe if people were real Razorback fans they would get up and yell on 3rd downs too.  Then he called the whole section lazy.

Then he called Chuck after the game and complained about it.  Completely hilarious.

I completely DISAGREE.

I think Irwin alluded to the fact last week that Mitch might come out after Feb1 and say what his handle is.  Wouldnt it be nice to go back and look at how we all perceived his posts?  Wouldnt it be nice to see who is credible on this board and who isnt?  Wouldnt it be hilarious to see the people who called him out saying "WHO ARE YOUR SOURCES????"

I can't wait for Feb 1, I mean yeah its signing day... but I cant wait to see peoples reactions when they find out they have been arguing with the man himself.  No one will post his handle, if they do a Mod will quickly delete the post and probably ban the user.

I just want to say how much I appreciate Mitch going on Press Row today and answering certain questions.  Definitely laid to rest a lot of silly rumors.  Also, I am convinced that if the "Powers That Be" on The Hill would be as forthright and communicative, it would go a long way with the fan base!  Mitch showed them today how that can be done!  Already there is a great amount of optimism on this Board from this one simple interview.  Think how much The Hill could benefit by being more open with its fans!  One last thing...I have heard that Mitch goes to a certain Church in Springdale which tells me that he is most likely a believer in God.  That said, I know he desires God's will for his life.  My prayers go out to Mitch for guidance in this tremendously difficult decision.  I also pray that Mitch will forgive and overlook some of the hateful things that have been said about him and his loved ones over the last several weeks.  I guess there will always be a few disgruntled individuals that get their kicks from being negative and insulting. As has been said before, Mitch is an intelligent young man who knows the vast majority of fans want what's best for him. Congratulations to Mitch and all the Springdale players for an awesome season that will not be soon forgotten!! Go Hogs Go!

Food for thought.....

I listened to the show this a.m. and really enjoyed MM and his maturity in his answers. He is a pretty bright teenager.

Here's my thought.....He was given an opportunity to explore after the turmoil at the UA post season and quite frankly, I can't fault him for that. He really hasn't gone to other campuses to see what they offer and obviously (like most kids) would be very interested in being "wined and dined" by national powers like ND and TN.

If he states now that he is going to the UA, he loses those opportunities to be catered to.....IF you were him and even IF you had already decided on the UA, wouldn't you hold that committment off UNTIL you had the opportunity to have the fun of being catered to by the likes of a ND?

Not if it was going to, or just possibly adversely affect the year's recruiting. I know society is different these days, but I was raised simply to not use people for what I could get out of them. However, if the recruit has any doubt of where he wants to go, he should make his visits to schools that he would consider attending.

Frankly, if I were Mitch Mustain, I would express an interest in the University of Hawaii today!!  Then I'd say maybe San Diego State.  Forget the schools, be a Hog!!  But go to some cool places.  South Bend is NOT a cool town.  Tuscaloosa is NOT a cool own, nor is Knoxville.

hamhog

I have to say this whole process is amazing.  I have great respect for the young man and in the end he will make the best decision.  A little story about myself that relates to Mitch.  Although it has been 17 years and had to do with golf not football and without any of the fanfare. I made a choice to not go to my local university and choose to go out of state.  This is a decision I have regretted for the past 17 years of what could have been.  I had two other teamates graduating with me and we all chose not to go to the local university and to this day I wonder what would have been.  I totally regret having made that decision.  At the time I did not understand how important friends, family, and other supporters were to my future.  I was the #1 player on my team all four years and was named captain of the team as a freshman in the spring semester but never became what I could have because I did not have that ever so important support of friends and family.  I received my education and have no regrets of where I am today I just wonder where I might be had I stayed around my true support group and not the boosters and alumni I met after leaving the state.  Sliding Doors approach us everyday.  It is up to us to make the right choice.

Go Hogs!
