A cherry Luscombe and DC-3 in one of our hangars when I was in LA:

That's a great pic!  Not to be a stickler, but I think that's actually a DC-2, not a DC-3.  I've seen this one at Oshkosh.  It's a beauty, and a very rare bird.  Not many flying DC-2's around.  You can tell that the upper cowling and nose are slightly different than the -3.

Yep, you are right, good eyes, a typo on my part.  I was told that there is only one other flying DC-2 around.  I jumped at the opportunity to change the push to talk switch in it just to be able to say that I've worked on a DC-2 ;)  Though I wouldn't want to regularly (or a 3 for that matter), it's like climbing a mountain to get to the cockpit.  You really cuss if you've forgotten something, heh, or if you set a tool down and it starts rolling...

Nice!

One thing though, isn't that panel more of a "what can brown do for you?" shade?

Funny...   I don't think Boeing will make a purple panel though!

Found this Beech C-45 in Marshall, MI when I was working on the oil spill up there. She'd been in the parachute bidness.

nice plane... is it as fast as it looks?

you in Missouri? or is that supposed to be ktXk?

Thanks.    Flight plan for 160 and consistently get 162-165 75% Power

I am in Northeast Arkansas at KBYH. The old Eaker air force base.  There are 3 of us in the hanger . Two 182s and mine.  We all play golf together and get kidded as the Blytheville Air Force. Not to take anything away from the real guys and gals who serve our country.

Runway is 11,500 feet long with an ILS. You can practice approaches to your hearts desire.

KTKX Kennett, Mo   is about 7 minutes by air. Fuel is now down to 4.39.

Just curious, why do you guys have 38,100 set instead of 38,000 for cruise?

Man, you're good!  I wondered if anybody would catch that.  Russia and China use metric altimetry.  We were over eastern Russia at the time.  The PFD will display meters, but we have to set the feet eqivalent in the control panel.  38100 is the eqivalent of FL 11600 meters in Russian airspace.

Love the Twin Beech FlyingHog!  I've got a friend at work who is restoring one.  Out of my league though.  Wouldnt want to see the gas/oil bill.   A real classic though.

You guys are great. I learned something tonight.  I am not smart enough to fly in Russia.

Sure you are!  We just print out a little conversion chart.  We're pilots - there's gotta be gouge for everything!

That's good stuff.  Unfortunately as soon as I got winged the Air Force made me an instructor and stuck me here in the States.  I can fly anywhere and follow any rule in any airspace in the US, but haven't got to test my ICAO wings yet outside of some sims.

I love the automation and beautiful displays, it's what made me choose the C-130J model, however, there's something to be said about old school flying.  I live outside the jet a lot more than some of my peers.  I love cancelling and just taking the jet around VFR.

That's where a Twin Beech would really fill my dreams.  But you're right, I couldn't imagine the bills to pay on that.

I really like the TBMs, though I haven't personally flown them, they are built like a tank and just put together in the right way like Beech used to do.  I haven't really worked on any Pilatus and am no where close to being impressed by the Meridians.  Citations (Slowtations as the 500 and 550s are known) hold a special place in my heart since that is the plane I grew up around- my dad flew one for Pabst when I was young.

The only turbine time I have was some dual I got (2.3 hrs) in a King Air C90.  It was fun.

I love twin Beechs.  Younkin has an 18 in their hangar in Siloam that is getting reworked and will become a parachute plane.

Here are some of my flying pictures:

Survived the AF solo in Del Rio (look closely for the hog patch), T-44 (King Air 90) fingertip on a low level in South Texas, air show in Puerto Montt, Chile, and my airplane

Nice!  I'm just finishing my time as a FAIP and headed to the J school house to stay at Little Rock.  When did you go through the school house?  Any tips?

edit:  Just saw your other post to see you're in the Fort Worth guard, not at Dyess.  My bad.

Nice on the J to Little Rock, that will obviously be a blast.  I went through a reserve school house, so that was obviously the easiest school I've ever went through.  The only tip for the school house is to have fun, but you'll be settling into Little Rock for awhile.

I went through T-44s with a C-130J active guy who was UA ROTC and from Hector, he should still be there.

In the AOR, I got a deadhead ride on a J model from OAIX to OAKN and it is truly night from day between that and my H2.  I've definitely got it easier as a co in the H2.

I'm pretty excited.  It was my second choice behind H2's out of Elmendorf.  When we listed "everything in the AF" my top choice was Alaska H2's, then Peterson, followed by Cheyenne.  I wanted the chance to fly with an associate guard Herk unit.  However, since only Alaska ended up in our FAIP drop this year for guard units I chose J's to Little Rock followed by H3's.  I'm more than excited.

I know it's a task heavy jet but I'm hoping my FAIP time helps me out a little.  I'm getting tired of max crosswind days with early students who are on perennial CAP...

That sucks about not getting Elmendorf, because everyone who goes to Alaska talks about moving back.  That and it sounds like every flying day in Alaska is into some dirt strip in the Aleutians.

You probably caught a break on missing the associate train.  It is definitely starting to loose its luster, at least from our (guard/reserve) prespective.  Too many different rules and not enough airplanes.

I think you are going to love the J and the Rock.  The J is probably pretty close avionics-wise to the Tone.  Bad news is that I hope you love going to Kandahar and doing airdrops with fighter escort.  They break a new airdrop record almost every month.

I know it's definitely going to be a flying shock for myself and a culture shock for my wife and I when I head to AMC.  I've been basically flying general aviation in a Beech jet for the past 4 years and that just won't be the case in AMC.  I've talked to friends who have landed at 8 fields in the past 4 years in KC's and such.

The J is interesting but one of the draws to the Herk is it's one of the last bastions of crew resource and hand flying.  However, the J removes a lot of that.  It's still an awesome bird.

No, we teach the final phase of pilot training in these.  The students who are headed to crew aircraft do advanced phase in these before getting their wings.  However, we keep our currencies in them on the weekends or sorties during the week and that's when we get to go places cool and do fun things.

However, we do have jets just for important people.  We have Leerjets, G3's, Gulfstream 550's, Boeing 737 Business Jets, and so on to haul around "important people" on their whim.  Those are good jobs that you get awesome type ratings in and tons of PIC and instructor hours in.

The Gulfstream G5's are a great gig.  I'm considering applying to join that in a few years.  One of my best friend's in the Air Force is flying them now and says it's incredible.

It is amazing that there is an entire class in our society that has access to these resources at the tax payers' expense...  Senators, Generals, et al.

Great picture.

I got lucky, I was able to be in 3 diff airplanes, see the ocean and get some informal operational Instrument training.

Route over the weekend went something like this... M18 - KHOT - M18 - KRSN - KMOB - KRSN - M18; left at 2:00 got back ~7:00

I'm in the middle of the annual on my Bonanza, but I had to go flying this week. I took up my neighbor's dad's Taylorcraft and did a loose flight of three with my two friends. One friend is in an RV-6A, the other a Piper PA-15 Vagabond. My favorite is the pic of the vagabond taken with the setting sun behind him. It produced a very cool silhouette.

I hit the reply button at the bottom of the thread (not the quick reply text box).  Then below the text box I selected Attachments and Other Options.  The Choose File button gave me a dialog box to find the jpg file on my computer.  After selecting one, I click on "more attachments" to add another one.

Is this what you mean? Obviously you already know how to post pics - maybe you were curious about how to have more than one in a post?
