Gilbert went to prep school so he should be 19 , It says he is 242 if so he carries the weight good.

DezNuttstehsuq

Gilbert just looks like a 'you come through the middle and Im gonna make you eat dirt' linebacker.  He looks as though someone just donkey punched his grandmother and is waiting for the camera to be put down so he find the bastard and kill them.

I hope all those kids become Hogs.

For real.  Once a little of that weight gets redistributed by Veltkamp, kid should be a monster

Hope Highsmith can win a national championship in his freshman year at Arkansas just like his father won a national championship 28 years prior at Miami.

I can't open that link for some reason,  but if its the picture I think it is then someone thinks its a possible recruiting violation. See link below

Creating a false gameday environment is a secondary violation. The main problem is you can see the personalized nameplates behind them. That might be a no no.

I think there are specific things they can and can't do like put them up on the big screen. Other schools do this same thing with the jerseys and stuff though.

How is that creating a false game day environment? The players go into that locker room everyday for practice, don't they?

Could that not be considered a false PRACTICEday environment.  Why does making personalized nameplates automatically get categorized in the "false gameday environment" category?

i dont know if the names on the lockers would be a violation but as for the comment about the "personalized" jerseys, how would you know that just from seeing the front?...i dont see any names on back in those pics

I was just quoting the article. I'm not an authority but I know other schools do personalized jersey's for recruits. There was a picture of Byran Jones and Alan Turner last year from Auburn posing with Auburn Jerseys.

Yep.  Numbers don't count as personalization, I would assume.

All the recruits have been doing this. I seen when Joe Adams was recruited they did the same thing. It sounds like sum1 wants us to get busted for something, even if it's nothing at all. BP has always ran a clean program & he is a very smart man & know's the rules of what he can & can't do. So I'm sure they have to run everything by him before they take a pic like this anyway.

It is not a simulated Gameday environment.  A simulated gameday environment would be to do the Hog walk, and enter out onto the field with the smoke machine going, with the scoreboard on and the PA announcer calling their name.  Heck Auburn's big cat weekend where they rolled Toomer's corner and had fans show up to cheer was a simulation of a gameday experience and they didn't get slapped so having recruits try on some jerseys and stand in front of some lockers is nothing.

Great....just wait until the NCAA gets wind of this. I am sure they already have and are looking for something to ping us with. Nice job putting this on a free board.

3BoarsDown

All the recruits have to do is say they didn't know anything, the Cam defense.

Its not a violation anyways, every school does this.

While I'm not up on the ins and outs of minor rules, the picture is a common practice at most schools and is not a concern. Who gets in the picture is probably a bigger issue than the picture itself (ie, handlers, players not on official visits, etc).
I am a Hog fan. I was long before my name was etched, twice, on the sidewalks on the Hill. I will be long after Sam Pittman and Eric Mussleman are coaches, and Hunter Yuracheck is AD. I am a Hog fan when we win, when we lose and when we don't play. I love hearing the UA band play the National Anthem on game day, but I sing along to the Alma Mater. we've done it before and not gotten in trouble.  i've also seen guys do that at other schools.  i think it refers more to smoke machines, videos on the big board, etc. (see lane kiffin)

The true gameday atmosphere was only available to parents.  The kids were kept in the locker room while they simulated a halftime contest on the field for parents.  They had a large plexiglass box with swirling cash that a parent would step in and grab as much cash as they could in a minute.  The kids, however, knew nothing about this and the parents weren't allowed to tell the kids about it, either.  So... all is well!  ;)

I don't see Walt in there, so we're clean...  Oh wait, that's permissible too at Auburn.

I have visited about simulating gameday environments with an NCAA enforcement guy in the past.  This is not in the category.  As some have mentioned, names on the jersey is not allowed, but not under gameday simulation.  There are just rules about personalized gifts.

If we are now patterning our behaviour on auburn's we don't deserve a program.  That being said, I trust Coach Petrino to follow the rules.

the NCAA rulers are the biggest hypocrites. If they got a hard on for a team or a player, they will turn their heads.
Its like Reggie Bush. How in gods name did no one see him driving a new car, his family in a new house and so on.  They knew they were making a fortune off the Reggie brand and weren't about to say anything while he was in college, but once he is gone, start investigating.
Schools should revolt against the NCAA and start their own brand.
I am venting to much.

As The Dale pointed out a couple of years ago when he committed multiple secondary violations, the NCAA punishment is so weak they are worth it if they help.

Creepy homers in the recruiting forum need to be careful what they post.

I'm sure that the recruits can receive some sort of gift packages when they visit colleges.
